Unemployment is twice as high
UNEMPLOYMENT in Britain is twice as high as official statistics show, according to a report in The Business newspaper.
The Business reported that research published this weekend takes into account anybody who is 'economically inactive', but looking for a job, not just those who are eligible for unemployment benefits.
The HSBC report estimates that there are 3.4m Britons who are unemployed, as opposed to the International Labour Organisation's estimate of 1.4m people.
Britain's official unemployment rate is 4.8%
