Today, Civiqs is releasing three years of daily tracking poll results gauging Americans’ level of support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Through June 2, 2020, 49% of Americans support the Black Lives Matter movement, with only 24% opposed. Support jumped by five percentage points in the last week alone, following George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police and the subsequent protests. This is the highest level of support for Black Lives Matter in over three years of daily tracking, and the most significant shift in racial attitudes since Civiqs began tracking the issue in April of 2017.

The tracking poll also finds that, for the first time ever, more white Americans support the Black Lives Matter movement than oppose it.

Civiqs’ tracking polls provide daily-updated survey results that can be broken out by key demographic factors—including age, race, gender, education, and party identification—to provide detailed measures of public opinion that exist nowhere else in public polling.

The daily tracking poll of Americans’ opinions regarding the Black Lives Matter movement, which have been ongoing since April 25, 2017, and are based on over 105,286 responses to date, are viewable via interactive online dashboards at civiqs.com, along with all of Civiqs’ other public polling.

“Civiqs’ groundbreaking polling is providing insights into public opinion on this crucial civil rights issue that no other survey can offer,” said Civiqs director Drew Linzer. “Our unique survey results interface provides granular detail into all Americans’ attitudes towards the Black Lives Matter movement. Civiqs will continue to conduct daily surveys over the coming weeks and months as events and protests continue.”
