Title - The Copper Gauntlet
(Magisterium #2)
Book Details - Paperback - 264 Pages
Authors - Holly Black/Cassandra Clare
Genre - YA/Junior Fiction/FantasyMagic
We start where Call decided to take Havoc home and who wouldnt- Calls Dad wasn't in the slightest interest in the time that Call was in the Magisterium. Calls Dad didnt even like Havoc. Then of course Havoc was seized by Calls Dad, and Call had had enough and made a run for it, with Havoc following (after Call had found him) Call gatecrashed a party with fruit cut into the shapes of moons and stars and suns, blocks of gooey cheese and crackers. Ice Fountains, that would pack a punch along with four iced peacocks. Now if that's not a party, I dont know what is! However like most parties things kind of get a bit boring, so Call and his 2 friends decided to sneak away from it all .... A secret door!!! Although this was at Tamara's Mums and Dads house, she wasn't supposed to tell anyone about it.
Now that they were at school, it was slightly different from last year... More "out of the classroom" lessons were going to be had and this year they would begin to work on the mastery of the elements themselves.
Yes, Havoc was still with the squad.
At school Call fessed up to what he had seen at his Dads home. Something terrifying, that made Call not be like himself. So why was Call defending his Dad- Especially when his Dad wasn't remotely interested in the doings of the magic school. Something very sinister was happening, which Call was hiding from the others. Not only that that, but the tension between Tamara and Call tightens. Will it tighten more- ... Fray and break-
Then they were on a quest, a quest to save Calls, Dad. So many questions arise as to how they managed to work together.
This book, being the second book, delves more in the technicalities of what Call, Tamara and Aaron can do. Counterweights and balances, I almost felt their was an element of maths involved. The dynamics between the characters begins to deepen and become more complicated. Also I went back in time, where orienteering, coordinates and numbers were used. Alot of things went on in this book, that keeps you amused. I have to mention the one thing that intrigued me the most, was when Call was in the bath and Tamara on the other side said that she was very hurt because he lied to her, so they promised not to lie to each other ... To which Tamara asked is there someone in the bath with you. Of which, Call couldnt lie, he said .. Yes, Havoc, of which Tamara replied .. How disgusting.... Gee I didnt half laugh at that!!! All in all, a great 2nd book to the series... Now to start book 3.
Thank you goes to Ellen Read who recommend this book to me.... now I recommend this book to, anyone who is interested in YA Fantasy/Fiction, who are into magical books likened to Harry Potter.

Co-written by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare.
Second in the series, and it's good to be able to get all of them together.
Enjoyed the books with less bad language and sex than seems so common in many other novels. Good plots and characters with unexpected twists and turns.

After reading the first book, I wanted to read the second. Kept my interest and I look forward to the next book.
