Temporary library closures
We are unable to maintain regular library opening hours over the summer. We apologise for any inconvenience.
To avoid fully closing any library site, we are reducing hours at all city libraries. The temporary schedule will be reviewed regularly, and normal hours will resume based on staff availability.
Any permanent changes to library hours will be made only after the public consultation and cabinet decision-making processes are completed.

Balsall Heath library
Balsall Heath library is closed for major building and remodelling works, including adding a mezzanine floor. The work is due to be completed in spring 2025. The nearest libraries to Balsall Heath library are Kings Heath library and Sparkhill library.
Selly Oak (Touchbase) library
Selly Oak (Touchbase) library will be closed on Saturday 6 July 2024 as the building is closed for a private event. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Spring Hill library
The library is closed until further notice due to issues with the building. Due to the age and current state of the pipework in the building, a new heating solution is required. A feasibility study has been approved to obtain a quote for a new boiler.
The Library of Birmingham is less than a mile away from Spring Hill library, offering an alternative service for members of the public during the closure. Progress on opening Spring Hill Library will be published here as soon as the necessary works have been scheduled.
Yardley Wood library
Yardley Wood library will be closed on Saturday 6 July 2024. We apologise to customers for the inconvenience.
