Flood warnings in place across Wales after heavy rain

The east of Wales has been on alert for strong winds

There are four flood warnings and a number of flood alerts in place across parts of Wales due to heavy rainfall.

Natural Resources Wales has listed flood warnings for the Lower Dee Valley, Denbighshire, and locations along the River Severn in Powys.

Residents in Powys, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Gwynedd are also on flood alert.

A yellow warning for wind for much of the east of Wales has now passed.

Strong winds closed one lane of the M48 Severn Bridge in each direction, but they have since reopened.

The flood warnings, where flooding is expected, are along the River Dee between Llangollen and Trevalyn Meadows, and for Aberbechan, Abermule to Fron and Pool Quay to Trewern by the River Severn.

Irish Ferries has cancelled some services on Friday between Holyhead and Dublin and Fishguard to Rosslare.

Another yellow warning for strong wind and heavy rain in Wales has also been issued by The Met Office for Saturday, when heavy rain is expected to last until midnight and strong winds are forecast up to 21:00.
