Nottingham attacks: Families react to triple killer's sentence review

The father of one of the victims of the Nottingham attacks has described the ruling that the killer's sentence was not unduly lenient as "disappointing, but not unexpected".

Earlier, the Court of Appeal heard there was "no error" in the approach taken by a judge who sentenced Valdo Calocane to a hospital order in January.

The 32-year-old, who was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the attacks, stabbed Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates to death last June.

Dr Sanjoy Kumar, father of Ms O'Malley-Kumar, said: "We will continue to pursue agencies that failed us and hold them responsible for the Nottingham attacks, so that no other family is made to suffer like ours."

Emma Webber, mother of Mr Webber, added: "It's clear to me as a human being, as a law-abiding citizen, as a grieving parent, a devastated mother, that some things have gone so badly wrong and it's not an isolated incident."
