Behind the scenes: filming the Act of Union

The Story of Wales had a unique opportunity to film the original Acts of Union when they were in Wales for the first time since they were written over 450 years ago.

Huw Edwards reads from the Acts: “Henceforth, no person or person who use the Welsh speech or language shall have or enjoy, any manner or office or fees within this realm unless he or they use or exercise the English speech or language."

Huw concludes, “So innocent before me, yet this document is one of the most important in the whole story of Wales, and its effects on the Welsh language would be felt for centuries to come”.
