Yoshie Nakayama

Yoshie Nakayama, a music producer, trombonist, and singer, is known for co-founding Songs for World Peace, a global initiative leveraging music to promote world peace. 

Her a cappella composition "Sing For You" led the UNIVOZ Vocal Ensemble to win in the Adult category on WBGH’s “Sing That Thing!” and its music video was premiered at the Global Voices Film Festival San Francisco 2021, hosted by UN Women San Francisco Bay Area Chapter.

Her arrangements are housed in the Japanese Library of Congress in Tokyo and are published by Sheet Music Plus, Fairy Inc., and the Jazz Vocalist Society of Japan.

Joel Stopka (Trombone) discovered his passion for Afro-Cuban music while studying at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Performing with local favorites, Orquesta Antonetti & Las Figuras Del Merengue, Joel was exposed to a many different styles of latin music & was very fortunate learn from such a talented group of musicians. 

   In 1991, Joel moved to Chicago & was prominent in the music scene writing, producing & performing with local groups & touring artist such as: Orquesta 809 (Isla), Orquesta Sabor, Los Mantas, DLG (Dark Latin Groove), Poi Dog Pondering, Frankie Ruiz, Lalo Rodriguez, Raphael de Jesus, Cheo Feliciano, Charlie Cruz, Huey Dunbar, Cano Estremera, Michael Stuart and Jimmy Bosch.

Originally from the North of France, he began his career as a classical trombonist in Symphonic Orchestras, then came the discovery of Improvised Music, Free Jazz and Contemporary Music.
He joined for two years the different formations of the A.R.F.I (Lyon collective) alongside Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Alain Gibert, Patrick Charbonnier, Maurice Merle, Jean Bolcato…
He then joined the Artistic Conservatory of French Polynesia, in Papeete, where he has been teaching trombone since 1999.
Then come the meetings, on stage and in studio: Elton Dean, Paul Rutherford, AYO, the 4tet SAKAY (Christian Pruvost, Peter Orins and Nicolas Mahieux), the duo Te Ti'ama with Christelle Sery (album in preparation), the duo with his son Oscar Descamps (album in preparation)…
In parallel with the cello, he developed a musical action for the very young public as part of his duet with Christine Vinolo: "Les Comptineurs de Tahit"i (9 CD albums)

Greg Hammontree is a dynamic NYC multi-instrumentalist and composer, whose extensive credits range from The Blue Note NYC, Radio City Music Hall, Symphony Space, and The Jazz Standard to Bing Concert Hall (Stanford), The Kaufman Center (Kansas City), and Concert House Berlin (Germany). His appearances include Netflix, CBS, HBO, RAI, PBS, and ABC, and he's enjoyed opening for such popular names as Josh Groban, Ginuwine, and Christian McBride.

 

Hammontree currently tours internationally with The Queen’s Cartoonists. They regularly headline at performing arts centers and jazz festivals, and have opened for the New York Philharmonic. As an arranger and composer, Hammontree has worked for various artists such as Jason Trachtenburg (Late Night with Conan O'Brien & MTV) in addition to his own new music.

I am in the class of 2024 at Grenada High School in Grenada, Mississippi. I play Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba. I primary play jazz trombone and symphony tuba/euphonium. My favorite type of jazz to play is Latin. Also I am planning on going to Delta State University for a degree in instrumental performance.
