War crimes tribunal investigating Colombia’s war atrocities
The tribunal’s president says the goal is to obtain some sense of justice, even if the crimes were greater than any penalty to be imposed.
Colombia‘s war crimes tribunal investigating the atrocities committed during a five-decade-long war has begun collecting testimony and evidence.
It comes a year after the signing of an historic peace agreement between the former FARC rebels and the government.
But as Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti reports, it’s unlikely to heal the wounds that so deeply divide the country.
