ESPN Game Day Live from Horseshoe

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – ESPN’s popular College GameDay broadcast live from the USC Horseshoe
Saturday, showcasing the campus.

The Game Day crew was surrounded by thousands of USC students and fans, all waving signs and banners for
The Gamecocks.

Chris Fowler, talking about the location, said it was great to be live from a beautiful tree lined campus and not
a parking lot.

The live three-hour show, which features Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Erin Andrews, aired nationally beginning at 9 a.m. ET, Saturday, Oct. 9, on ESPNU with the final two hours on ESPN.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) will host the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 SEC) at Williams-Brice Stadium later Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Tracy Wolfson describing the action.

The Gamecocks are ranked 19th in this week’s Associated Press poll and 20th in the latest USA TODAY/Coaches poll. Alabama is ranked No. 1 in the country in both polls.

This will mark the fifth time that GameDay will visit the South Carolina campus. The first visit came in November of 2001 for the USC-Florida game. They were on hand again in September of 2004 for the Carolina-Georgia contest. They returned for the first game of the Steve Spurrier Era when the Gamecocks hosted Central Florida on Aug. 31, 2005. Most recently, they were here in October of 2006 when Carolina hosted Tennessee.
