On May 28, 2024, the Academy submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) on the Fiscal Year 2025 proposed rules for both the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) and the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) PPS. The Academy’s comments for both proposals largely focused on potential quality measures and proposals to expand collection of patient data on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). You can learn more about these proposed rules here.

Now that the comment period for both the IRF and SNF PPS proposed rules has closed, the Academy awaits the release of the final rules for FY 2025, scheduled to take effect October 1, 2024. If you have any questions or comments on either the IRF or SNF PPS proposed rules for FY 2025, please contact the AAPM&R Health Policy team at healthpolicy@aapmr.org.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
