I tested our water which has the obvious foul odor of hydrogen sulphide, then I tested a glass of reverse osmosis water that sat out overnight (no odor). Neither test strip changed to any shade of violet shown on the color chart. Rather, they maintained the same brown appearance of the unused test strip except they were wet. The picture of a single strip is a new unused strip. Yes, I followed the directions.Total waste of money.Buyer Beware! Buyer Beware! Buyer Beware! Buyer Beware!

We recently built a house which required a new well. Almost immediatly we began to notice a sulpher oder in the water which grew stronger over time. There are a range of recommended treatments for this based on the concentrations of Hydrogen Sulfide (HS) in the water. we ordered these test strips and tested the water. This gave us the information necessary to select the correct treatment option, which in our case was to "Shock" the well with a chlorine treatment. After the treatment the water tested as clean of the HS issue and the smell and taste were gone. There are enough strips in one bottle to perform many tests.

These strips are far less expensive that sending samples off for testing, but more important they give sufficient information that one can make some choices as to solutions for solving a HS issue in a well. So instead of paying a fortune for a large expensive water treatment system; our test results using these strips lead us to a solution that cost the price of 5 bottles of chlorox bleach. I would recommend these to anyone. They are inexpensive, and easy enough to use that a child could do it.

I had foul egg odor from my water. I purchased these strips which confirmed what I had already suspected. The test was easy to run, and the chart was easy to match. I plan on installing an iron filter to combat the high levels of hydrogen sulfide.

We tested a few properties of ours in the area when one person complained of a foul odor in their water. Those who did not change their filters properly tested high, while those who’s changed as recommended were fine! I feel confident that these strips work and will continue to use!

We want to get a water softener and we found that if you have sulfur, a softener can make the sulfur problem worse. So we got these strips to test our water. We tested our water and the strips show no sulfur. I than took a product that contain 73 percent sulfur and mixed it with some water. Still nothing I than took the product with the sulfur and wiped it on the test strip and it still showed nothing. Waste of time and money.

I really was surprised by how well this kit worked. I thought I would try it as a quick test kit for testing oilfield water H2S levels and it worked great, giving me a quick rough reading. I would give it 5 stars if the strips were cut up better, otherwise this is a awesome product
