COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A week ago, Lee Corso put on Dwayne Haskins’ head. Now, Haskins could put on his own head. Ohio State’s former quarterback celebrated his 22nd birthday on Friday, and ESPN gave him an early birthday present last week.
During the NFL Draft last Thursday, ESPN had its College GameDay crew together. That included Lee Corso, famous for making onsite college football picks by wearing the mascot head of the team he’s choosing. The first time he ever donned a mascot head, in 1996, it was Brutus Buckeye while picking Ohio State over Penn State.
This time, Corso was asked which player he would take No. 1 overall if he was running the Arizona Cardinals. Somehow, out came the oversized head of Haskins.
“The headgear is obviously a big part of College GameDay and we wanted to bring that flavor to telecast,” ESPN spokesperson Derek Volner told cleveland.com. “There were different ideas bantered about, but ultimately it was decided that we can do a headgear for who Coach would pick with the first pick of the draft if he was the Cardinals.”
It wasn’t the first time ESPN needed to have a big head made. Last year, Corso put on the fake head of ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.

Haskins didn’t go first. He was picked 15th by the Washington Redskins. So where is that huge Haskins head now?
According to Volner, ESPN gave it to Haskins. All we need now is a photo of Haskins wearing it himself.
