Which neighborhoods/towns do most Brown University professors live?
They live everywhere depending on their lifestyle. If I had to guess, I would say the East Side, particularly nearby College Hill contains the more Brown professors than any other single neighborhood or town. However, they can be found in most upscale towns around Providence. If they have children, they gravitate to Barrington much like other professionals. Some can even be found in the more rural, but close, western towns of Scituate & Foster.
Actually, many who have children still live on the East Side and send the kids to private schools.
Convenience, as in walking, biking, or bussing to work is the biggest factor for a lot of people since the parking on or near the campus is abysmal.
If you are asking because you are a new professor, ask about a designated parking space- not a permit- an actual space. Unless you are a rocket scientist, you probably won't get a designated space.
Not to change the subject from where Brown professors live to Oak Hill. However, it is true you get more for your money in Oak Hill. I've heard it said, more than once, a move to Pawtucket will get you a $100,000 more house than can be had on the East Side.
