Thank you for the link. We passed Parry St when I was lost yesterday... I'll have to look at the map.

If you like rib eye steaks, you might want to buy a whole ribeye at Schiff's and take it back home with you in an ice chest. See photo of their meat case.

"Scranton is a bit of a drive, since I'm only here for a couple of wks. And, mum's freezer is full..."

That'll be a last resort. I'm not here that long, thx, but it looks great.

Thank you TG, I'll give it a try. I was out all day on Wyoming Ave, but see it's 4-mi in the other direction... very close.

Forty Fort has a small park on the Ave and the walkways are smooth and level. A nice little stroll and benches to rest.

Thank you. It looks like you mean Church St. Pk. We'll be out that way, in FF, next wk, so we'll check it out.

Thank you so much, All!

One last thing... anyone happy with any car detailing place they use? My car is now empty for the 1st time in months & before I pack up again to relocate cross country, I'd like to have it hand washed & waxed.

I just got off of the phone with a high school friend from Wilkes-Barre. He said that Fetches's has very good meat. I'd go there first.

There are quite a few detail shops listed in the Yellow Pages. Sorry, I can't give you a recommendation. Expect to spend $100 or more for the service.

Actually, I did mean the park on the Ave in Forty Fort but maybe the one on Church St would be better for your mum.

You might want to speak to Joe at Forty Fort Lube, also on the Ave, LOL, just north of the park. He has someone who details and it does run around $100. I don't know about availability since you're here for a limited time.

I was going to ask you which one you meant. I've been to the monument and the cemetery, but not a park.

Very good, then, G, thank you for thinking of me, you're a doll. I need to go on Mon, so I'll report back. I'm just looking for ribeye... I'm on an elimination diet due to extreme allergies & asthma, so am supposed to only eat fatty ribeye, once/day, 1 meal only for a full month. It's easy to do, meaning having self control... I just haven't had luck finding ribeye, since on the road. These things are always harder to do when traveling, but I'm determined to keep trying...

No worries, Wells... you've been very helpful throughout the thread. For some reason, car detailers seem to be great or awful, in my experience, which is why I asked for a local's recommendation. I do have to find a Honda dealer next wk for parts... I'll ask them for a recommendation, if they're allowed to do so... if not, I'll go anywhere at this point... need to begin packing up my car again by mid-wk.

Okay, thank you for the recommendation, TG... also, what do you mean by "the Ave"? Wyoming Ave? Remember, I'm not a local. I will stop in to ask Joe about detailing... thank you, kindly.

I'm here for another full week & will try to stay another full week. I'm almost done setting up my mum's apt (I'm posting this after 4:30am, cuz I was up all night/morning setting up her apt)... so, if I can buy another wk, I will stay. I'll have plenty of time to schedule a car detailing.

Thank you all very much. I think I have enough info to find what I need. I'll post back after I've explored all your recommendations.

Yes, indeed, Girl - The Ave is Wyoming Avenue, or Route 11. From West Pittston south to Kingston, The Ave is the main drag. Most commerce is conducted on The Ave although there are some very nice homes as well. (I'm not sure what it's called once you get to Edwardsville)

When I first came here 40 plus years ago, I didn't know what people were talking about but now I sometimes forget that it was once foreign to me!

I asked because theatergypsy mentioned it. Wasn't it quite a coincidence that he called about ten minutes after she posted that?

Lol. I understand. TG, for me it's the other way 'round. I was born in the valley, but left at 12 & only returned for a few years for a long weekend to visit the few relatives I had in the area at that time. Haven't been here in at least 15-yrs.

It's funny that people keep saying to me, "You know where the X is on X St. near the X across from the X?"... my answer is always, 'No... I haven't lived here for 30-yrs. I don't know where any X is & don't know the X it's across from...' Nothing looks familiar to me after so many years away.

BTW, it's still Wyoming Ave in Edwardsville. From the map, it goes all the way down to Northumberland, 76-mi from the Fetch's Mkt in Wyoming that Gerania recommended, where it appears to then turn into Hwy 15.

Good fortune! I'll be visiting Wegman's & Fetch's later in the wk. A bit of a change of plans since I'm awaiting Maintenance this wk. Best laid plans & all that...

Thank you, again, All!
