Just under 4,000 sqft but I do think it's expensive. Going to shop it around this new year.

You might save a few bucks, but at that high a level of coverage it's hard to cut your cost down. If you do get a lower quote it's probably going to come from lower dwelling coverage.

We don't have homeowner's insurance, but renter's insurance, as we don't own... but we carry upwards of $500,000 in inventory in our home, and have found that All State has the best rates... so far...

$500,000 of personal property? Are you sure about that? I was an agent for 3 years in a high-end suburb and I never could calculate more than $200,000 of replacement personal property in a house. Is some of that business related? If so renters insurance won't cover it.

I think he means $500,000 liability. I carry that on all my condos.

I go for the highest deductible that my mortgage company will allow. $5000. This lowers my rate substantially as well as keeps me from being tempted to make frivolous claims that would possibly end up in my coverage being cancelled under a "use it & lose it" scenario.
