I'm away a lot sometimes a couple of months at a time.
The house is in The Lakes area.

I have a neighbor up the street who drives by the house all the time that keeps an eye on it.
He gets the mail and also walks through the house once a week to make sure there are no problems.
I pay him $70 a month and it has been well worth it.
If you are in a 2 story house and it develops a water leak upstairs it can destroy your celing.
I also put lights on timers that go on and off random times.
I have lighting outside front and back that comes on at night.

I have these Honeywell switches installed all over the house. The outside lights (and Christmas lights, when applicable) are set from dusk until dawn. (The user programs longitude and latitude into the switch, and the switch knows sunrise and sunset based on location -- no light sensor required.) And then I have other room lights turn on and off at random intervals. It sure beats having a timer.

Isn't there an election for Sheriff in a few months? Perhaps going to the media and seeing if they will do anything to report on this might "motivate" those running for the position to "help" you. If they can "buy" your vote and the votes of those sympathizing with you by sending someone over with a fingerprinting kit it might be a win-win.

And if there is insurance, there are "out" clauses in insurance if they find out the house was unoccupied for "X" amount of time (the time frame varies) I don't know how long the OP's been gone.

Don't forget get to call the credit agencies and report this. It will help prevent them from getting credit in your name.

Better to just "freeze" your credit, which will be free with a police report.

I was not aware of that. I personally never leave my apartment for longer than a day so I am ok.

Wouldn't a private detective agency have the ability to take fingerprints and match them to a data base? Sure there are some respectable and effective firms in Las Vegas. Spending some money on that seems safer than following someone who appeared to be looking at your house inappropriately. What were you going to do if that person turned around and confronted you? Or maybe even just claimed, "That house looks empty all the time. I was wondering if it's for sale and was looking around."

So sorry for your shock & fear.
I am female, on my own as well - can't climb a ladder! I think minimally the security signs, timers (they have really changed ) & most importantly find someone reliable to park in your drive/in front of your house. No mail or packages around. Things are bad enough when residents are home!

How about motion sensitive flood lights outside?

My Econoswitch does that as well, with a motion sensor attached to the actual flood unit. Everyone should look into these things. They're worth every penny.
