A place I really enjoy that kind of blew my mind b/c it was here in the LV is the Wetlands park out in Henderson. It has a couple of ponds, lots of streams, and the runoff from all of the LV wash goes through the backside of it. As far as I know there is still no fee to get in. I always see lots of different birds and mammals when I go there.

I bicycle through the wetlands park to get from Sunrise to Hendertucky. I can bicycle to Hendo faster than I can drive there. The odor can be offensive sometimes, though. (The treatment plant is right there, after all.)

OP can drive to the bridge on Hollywood Blvd. (You can see the bridge from the road, just past the treatment plant.) I would park and walk to the bridge. The dirt paths are quite rough. Once you make it to the bridge, though, it's all well-manicured sidewalk. Why they don't extend the sidewalk to Hollywood Blvd. so that people in Sunrise can enjoy the park without a 1/4-mile hike over broken-bottle and sharp rocks dirt track, I have no idea. It does keep the park mostly deserted, though.

The Cruise is a interesting way to see the lake and get a guided tour.

The evening cruises have pretty decent food. I've been impressed every time I've gone on one.

Everything already mentioned.

I just got back from Red Rock canyon for the second time in the 5 months I've lived here.

The neatest thing is seeing the history of this planet out in the open. Stop at the visitor center and pick up a book that explains the various strata.

Then drive to the west side outside of Pahrump and hike the mountains from that site. Truly awesome.

When I was there, one of the geologists on staff was giving a talk about the various formations, how old they were, what the colors meant, etc. Very fascinating to have it all explained as we stood there looking at it.

Pioche Nevada for a day tour or an overnight trip. Interesting feel of a small Western town. Take I15 North to 93 Junction.

One of the more enjoyable shows that I have seen is Brian Hoffman's Red Skelton show at the Westin Las Vegas. The show is inexpensive with half-off tickets and the show room is small but the show is well done and it is one show that is family friendly.

Red Skelton, Brian Hoffman's Remembering Red Tribute Red Skelton,Vegas

My second choice would be the Pinball Museum on Tropicana Ave.

Red Rock walking trails are low impact and scenic. You may have to pay for a yearly pass to go often. I think that scenery is worth it.
