Anyone can apply on line. The million dollar question is how long is it going to take to get hired.

Dealer schools turn out several times more "dealers" than there are jobs for them. I don't think I'd waste my money, with the possible exception of learning to deal while working another casino job and working on getting some juice with people in that casino for a possible transfer.

This may sound stupid, but can't cabbies use GPS devices?

FYI, Las Vegas is about the easiest city in the U.S. to find your way around in. It's more a less laid out in a grid, and there are many easily recognized, and easily seen from all over town, landmarks to guide you. There are no natural obstacles to go around, or to block your views. Once you learn which mountains are which, as well as where to look for the Strip and where for downtown, you've got it made. And you can do that in an afternoon. You'd learn the town in no time, especially if you do some driving around on your own on days off.

If you are driving a taxi in the Detroit area, trust me, you will have no problem in Vegas. But, if it isn't what you truly want to do and dealing is, why don't you see if you can get a job in one of the casinos in MI? If you aren't moving for 8 mos, you will get some good on the job experience there. A friend of mine married a mail order bride from the Ukraine. She came over here knowing limited English, no license and after some hard work, she landed a great job at the Motor City Casino. Bottom but it wasn't long and she moved right up. Can be done.

Good luck!

Kallos is a good school for dealing. But the demand for dealers right now is about the same for space heaters in the summer. You will also need to know the major 5 before they will even consider you for on call these days.

Dumb question here. What are the major five? Card games of some kind?
