Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have announced they are divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Rumours of an impending surprise announcement started making its rounds on Saturday, with the news being eventually verified by the pair's agents.

The couple revealed in a joint statement: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The popular twosome had long been a staple on ITV's This Morning, and their consistent absence from public photos in recent weeks raised alarm bells among their dedicated followers. Known for their sometimes heated spats on live television during their time on the daytime show, Holmes and Langsford had always maintained that their scuffles were rooted in endearment.

The revelation of their separation will likely shock fans who viewed them as one of television's most refreshingly candid and steadfast couples. Their reputation encountered turbulence in 2020 following their removal from This Morning.

Whilst Langsford remained at ITV as part of the Loose Women team, Holmes launched various criticisms at his previous employers since his transition to GB News, reports the Mirror.

Holmes accused his premature departure from his longstanding role as abrupt and unceremonious, branding the ITV executives as consistently inconsiderate towards him.

In a candid interview with Woman's Weekly, Ruth Langsford opened up about the challenges her marriage has faced due to Eamonn Holmes' health issues. She expressed uncertainty about his future mobility, saying: "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope."

Ruth continued, acknowledging the difficulties that come with caring for a loved one: "He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family.'".

Reflecting on the importance of well-being, she added: "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is."

The couple share their son Jack, aged 22, and Eamonn has three children from his previous marriage: Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and Rebecca, 33.

Ruth has been notably quiet about her husband on social media since July 2022. Meanwhile, Eamonn raised eyebrows this week by posting a photo of himself with former page 3 icon Linda Lusardi.
