Front Fender Air Deflector Material Change

I tore the little air dam/deflector below the splitter loading on a trailer. It slightly tore about 3". I ordered a new one from GM Parts Direct, received the new part. The new part is almost like a softer ABS plastic vs. the original more rubber material piece. I may just repair the old one with some rubber glue. To me the original rubber piece is more pliable and will flex going over driveways etc. The new piece actually seems like it will scrape and not flex as much. Does anybody know if there is a different part number or is it probable just a manufacture change in material...updated part?
