    Sleeping Mask

    Slip Sleep Mask

There’s no doubt about it: This popular mask is gorgeous. It’s made with stunning silk fabric, and colors include a lush navy, a graceful ballet pink, and opulent gold. It has a scrunchy backstrap that stretches rather than adjusts, which allows for a more seamless look (but perhaps an imperfect fit). To that end, some CR evaluators found that the mask was true to its name and slipped during the night. Overall, the Slip makes a great gift for that stylish someone in your life.

    Sunrise Alarm Clock

JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock

The Jall Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock is less than half the price of some other clocks we tested, but from an ease-of-use standpoint, this model comes out on top. It has two independent alarms (so you can set them for different times depending on your routine), seven alarm tones (including “wind bells” and birds chirping), an FM radio, and a fall-asleep mode that simulates a sunset (though no white-noise option).

    Weighted Blanket

    YnM Weighted Blanket

If you’ve been thinking of trying a weighted blanket, now’s the time. This one from YnM performed well in CR’s tests, with one staffer saying the glass beads felt pretty evenly distributed. There are a couple dozen color options, but they depend on the size and weight you choose. And while the blanket doesn’t come with a duvet cover, YnM sells one separately.

    Slippers

    Crocs Classic Lined Clog

In our recent review of popular slippers, three out of four CR evaluators found themselves head over heels for the Lined Crocs. “I am pleasantly surprised that these are extremely comfortable,” said Ginger Cowles, a managing editor and member of the slippers evaluation team. These clogs, as Crocs calls them, feel stable and secure, with a thick, textured sole that doesn’t slip and provides ample distance and insulation from frigid floors in the winter. They’re also machine-washable (in cold water only), though we haven’t tried that ourselves. A foam strap can either be pulled over the front of the shoe, transforming the Crocs into a slide, or over the back, making the shoe more secure on your foot.

The Coop Home Goods The Original pillow is made of shredded memory foam and earns an excellent rating in our tests for support, no matter your size or whether you sleep on your side or back. It comes with extra foam so that you can adjust the filling to your liking. The Coop also keeps its shape well, showing little or no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Our panel of testers liked the look and feel of this pillow, too. The only test where this pillow falls slightly short is in how well it allows air to circulate. It retains heat, so your head might get a little sweaty at night.

    Massage Gun

    Toloco EM26

This is the cheapest device we’ve tested, and it holds up against more expensive competitors in our tests. It earns a very good score for handling postural stress during use, which tests how well users can maintain good wrist, arm, and shoulder postures when using the device. It also scores a near top-level mark for ease of use. This Toloco comes with 10 attachments and a case, and is powered by a USB-C cord.

    Yoga Mat

    Jade Travel Mat

Here’s one for the yogi in your life: Consumer Reports tested 19 yoga mats to find out how each one holds up to regular use. The Jade Travel Mat aced the drying and grip tests CR put it through but found that it offered only a fair amount of cushioning. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because a firmer mat can provide more stability for standing poses and can be easier on the wrists.

Hydro Flask Wide Mouth With a Straw Lid (24 oz.)

Staying hydrated is always a good look, especially when traveling. In lieu of a single-use plastic bottle, go for a reusable one that can be toted around from the gym to the plane and beyond. This 24-ounce version by Hydro Flask is made from pro-grade stainless steel, is BPA-free, and has double-wall vacuum insulation—which means you can count on your drink to remain ice-cold, even under a hot, baking sun.

    Chi Handheld Garment Steamer

The Chi handheld garment steamer is a traveler’s best accessory. Roughly the size of a flat iron, it offers 8 minutes of steaming with a manual button on the handle. It was the fastest steamer to heat up in our at-home tests, ready to go after a mere 40 seconds. The compact device is compatible with tap water, which takes the stress out of having to track down distilled water when on the go.

    Hot Tools 24K Gold Professional

The Hot Tools 24K Gold Professional is an eye-catching curling iron with a shiny gold barrel. In our evaluations it was the best at delivering loose, beachy curls. However, the iron seemed to yield better results for Consumer Reports’ testers with finer hair than for those with thick hair. Also, many of our evaluators had trouble with the hinged kickstand getting in the way.

    Electronics

This over-ear wireless model from Monoprice offers solid noise-canceling performance and above-par sound quality at a great price. The BT-300ANC features integrated controls for calls, volume, and playback, and the ear cups conveniently fold in and swivel flat for easy storage and transport. According to Monoprice, the battery will run for 8 hours between charges with Bluetooth and noise cancellation turned on.

The Skullcandy Dime wireless earphones offer very good sound quality and a great battery life. They have an advertised 3.5-hour battery life and a charging case good for an additional 8.5 hours. These earphones feature an isolating design, meaning they will both muffle some external noise and limit the amount of sound that escapes from the ear pieces. One caveat: Skullcandy gets a dismal rating for owner satisfaction in our latest headphones member survey.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive speaker, the Amazon Echo Show 8 could be a good option to consider. It aces our tests for ease of use and earns near top-level marks for versatility. The Echo Show 8 also gives you access to Alexa, which features strong search capabilities. And unlike many smart speakers, which just play sound, it comes with an informative touchscreen display.

The JBL Flip 5 is available in 12 different colors and a number of patterns, including camouflage. Our testers found its sound quality to be good. Two units can be used in stereo; you can fill a room with sound while still paying less than you would for mono speakers. Our testers also found the speaker’s ease of use to be very good and liked its fuss-free pairing.

The Amazon Fire 7 is another great gift option because it allows you to do basic tasks, like watching shows and reading e-Books, easily. With a 6.9-inch screen, this tablet offers very good versatility and convenience. It also features a longer battery life than most, with 15.7 hours while browsing the web and 16.5 hours while playing videos. And, like most Amazon tablets, storage can be expanded using a micro-SD card (sold separately).

    Henckels Premio 8” Chef’s Knife

Henckels has been making knives in Germany for nearly 300 years, and its expertise in design is on full display with this 8-inch chef’s knife. The Permio’s handle is contoured with no sharp edges, resulting in a knife that’s extremely comfortable to hold. It also excels at force transmission from handle to blade, which means you don’t need to exert as much effort when cutting.

    Manual Knife Sharpener

    Chef's Choice 4643 Knife Sharpener

The Chef’s Choice 4643 manual knife sharpener looks like the analog version of the brand’s electric sharpener, but it works a bit differently. It has two basic sharpening settings, one for sharpening knives to 15 degrees and another to 20 degrees. A third stage polishes the edge of any knife no matter which sharpening angle you choose. Like the brand’s electric sharpener, the 4643 feels well designed, with grooves that hold the knife at the perfect angle as you slowly draw it through.

The cast-iron Spice by Tia Mowry Savory Saffron Enameled Dutch oven heats up quickly and bakes bread with a crispy crust, earning top-level marks on both assessments in CR’s test kitchen. It’s almost as good at simmering sauces, and it cooks fairly evenly. Best of all, it’s a cinch to clean. It weighs almost 14 pounds and has a cooking surface that’s 8 inches in diameter.

Give the gift of a classic kitchen accessory that will hold up. The Lodge Seasoned Cast Iron Baking Pan is the smallest of all the sheet pans in our tests, but at almost 8½ pounds, it weighs the most—by far. In fact, it’s difficult to remove from the oven with just one hand. On the plus side, it doesn’t warp, and cleanup is easier than it is for other uncoated pans.

The Dash Digital Tasti Crisp air fryer is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and an overall size of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best. It earns very good ratings for controls and cleaning, and excels in our noise test. It has a one-year warranty, which is typical for air fryers.

If you or a loved one like to use freshly ground coffee beans for every brew, check out the Black+Decker Mill & Brew CM5000B, which features a built-in grinder. This 12-cup brewer performs well in our tests, with a near top-level rating for carafe handling. Our testers also found it very easy to use and clean. In addition to its grinder, this Black+Decker features a permanent filter, auto-shutoff, brew-strength control, and programming, making it a great countertop model for your daily grind.

The Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1004 food chopper earns a very good rating for chopping, turning out nicely chopped veggies and nuts in our tests. It also aces our grating test and delivers a midrange puréeing performance. To operate this model, you push down on the top-mounted motor. Included in this set are a larger 5-cup processing bowl, a 6-cup blender jar, and one-year warranty.

For more options: Best Blenders Under $100

The Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1004 full-sized food chopper features a unique top-mounted motor to turn out snow cone–textured ice for smoothies. While Ninja doesn’t claim this model makes hot soups and juices, it excels at all the main blending tasks. The removable blade makes cleanup easy. Swap out the 6-cup blending jar for its 16-ounce food chopper and this versatile appliance does an impressive job chopping onions and nuts, and grating cheese. But at just 450 watts, it’s not the most powerful blender.
