The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards, known as the ACM Awards, is being held on May 16, 2024, with Reba McEntire returning as host. The country music icon has emceed the ceremony many years on and off, making this her 17th time — of which 11 were hosted solo.
“I’m so ready, we’ve had such a good time,” McEntire said on the red carpet of prepping for the show. “We went through dress rehearsals, everybody had fun doing it. And I got to see everybody’s performances. Y’all are gonna have a blast watching everybody perform tonight.”
McEntire is among those who’s taking the stage to perform. “I do get to sing,” she smiled. “Yes, they let me.”

McEntire holds the record for the most nominations for Female Artist of the Year, winning 16 ACM Awards to date. Asked how long it’s taken to put together the monologue, she said it wasn’t done yet: “We’re still working on it. But it’s the way it’s always been. Down to the last minute, we are still finessing.”
The event — which brought out Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton — is taking place at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The night’s big prize is Entertainer of the Year; those nominated in the category this year are: Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton and Jelly Roll.
Known for handing out a “hat” trophy, the ACM Awards was first held in 1966 before being televised in 1972 on ABC. It was then aired on NBC in 1979, then CBS in 1998, and, since 2022, it’s been available on Amazon Prime Video.
