Résumé:
John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr. wrote non-fiction, short stories, and novels, many adapted for stage and screen. Paradoxically, while many of works are on high school required reading lists, he is also one of the ten most frequently banned authors in American. His California upbringing gives his fiction its regional flavor and sense of place, while conditions and events in the first half of the 20th century provided his struggling characters. Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize for Literature In 1962. This film uses contemporary drawings and paintings, portraits, maps, and other archival material to describe the social and historical background of his writing.
