[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Orphan Black: Echoes Season 1 Episode 2 “Jules.”] Now that it’s been revealed that Keeley Hawes is playing an adult Kira (!), the door is open for Echoes to bring back characters from the original Orphan Black in an organic way, and it does just that right away in the second episode, with Jordan Gavaris (aged up with makeup) back as her uncle Felix! And he’s the perfect person for her to have around now as we begin to delve into just what she’s done. “I think because her relationship with her mom was so troubled, her uncle Felix was sort of always there for her in this kind of lovely supporting way, and I think there’s just sometimes less conflict with family that’s not your direct family of origin in a certain way,” creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer Anna Fishko tells TV Insider ...

She’s referring to her character, Di Rachita Ray, having to go see her ex-fiancé, the corrupt cop Martyn Hunter (Jamie Bamber), now in prison for his crimes uncovered at the end of Season 1. Now, in D.I. Ray Season 2, he claims to have pertinent information about the murder case she’s working. Martyn insists on talking to Rachita alone and remarks that solving this case would be a chance to prove herself. She keeps her focus on the case. He brings forth an alternate suspect, who was once tight with one of the murder victims before a falling out and has a score to settle. “Orphan Black: Echoes” has been assiduous in maintaining a separate identity from its parent show, “Orphan Black,” from focusing on different generations of clones to utilizing a more cinematic look. But the series also proudly wears its relationship to the parent show, most notably with Keeley Hawes’ scientist, Kira Manning, the daughter of Sarah Manning, around whom so much drama unfurled on the Og. And as viewers learned at the end of Episode 1, Kira is still in touch with the clones (though we don’t see them).
And then, in Episode 2, a familiar voice arrives: Jordan Gavaris, reprising his performance as Sarah’s best friend Felix, albeit 30 years older.
“I spoke with Jordan and let him know that this was [coming] and just wanted to see what he thought,” said “Orphan Black” co-creator and “Orphan Black: Echoes” co-executive producer and director John Fawcett. “And he was like, ‘Let me get this straight.

Infuriating. Beautiful. Invigorating. Game-changing. And thank God AMC renewed this one, because if this had been “the end of it,” it would have also been hella triggering. I think it delivers.” Indeed, few shows deliver an ending as transcendent as this. AMC’s Interview With the Vampire is a symphony of excellence from Episode 1 to Episode 15. TV Insider spoke with Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Assad Zaman, and Eric Bogosian for a full breakdown of the Season 2 finale. The finale began with Louis (Anderson in an Emmy-worthy performance) on a rampage. Rage gave way to madness after Armand exhumed Louis from his rocky grave in the walls of the Théâtre des Vampires. Editor’s Note: The following post contains spoilers for “House of the Dragon” Season 2, up to and including Episode 3.
Is Westeros at war? Sources beg to differ on the answer. There are those who believe it has already commenced, that action must now be taken in defense and retaliation and with survival in mind; yet others, and surprisingly many characters in “House of the Dragon” Season 2, Episode 3, seem to still think the W word is on the horizon, potentially held at bay if they take the right course.
Among those is Queen-hopeful Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), under the sweet delusion that her opponents or any detractors in the realm will listen to reason. They didn’t listen when the last king explicitly named her heir, but perhaps they might be swayed on the child murder enacted in her name? Keep dreaming is my advice to the ruler now being called Rhaenyra the Cruel,...

Spoiler Alert: The following interview discusses events from “Humble,” the Season 4 finale of “The Chosen,” now streaming on “The Chosen” app and YouTube page.
The lead character of any television series riding a donkey as he’s about to face his tragic prophesized fate is not the way most shows would end its season — but there aren’t a lot of series like faith-based drama “The Chosen,”which ended its fourth season on Sunday.
Since its premiere in 2017, the scripted drama has chronicled the early days of Jesus Christ (Jonathan Roumie) as he spread His gospel and accumulated both followers and enemies along the way.

Never mind critics of Hollywood “wokeness” — it’s good that TV creators are becoming more sensitive to societal issues and systemic oppression. Just go back and watch early episodes of the Law & Order franchise to see why. As you’ll read below, the first few seasons of Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit had episodes that would never make it past NBC’s standards and practices department now — or so we hope, anyway. And some of those early seasons’ bad habits persisted long into L&o and Svu’s runs. Here are some of the worst offenses…. 1. Depictions of police brutality The Law & Order universe is rife with police brutality, especially on Svu, where both Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Benson (Mariska Hargitay) — but mostly Stabler — have assaulted suspects. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the latest episode of Mayor of Kingstown, “Iris.’] Iris (Emma Laird) put herself at the center of the action on Sunday’s eponymous new episode of Mayor of Kingstown. Though the town’s new supervillain Konstantin (Yorick van Wageningen) didn’t know she was around, she decided to make her presence known in hopes of getting into his inner circle again, now that her former tormenter boss Milo (Aiden Gillen) is out of the picture — presumed, but not confirmed, to be dead. Though Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) heavily disfavored her plan, Iris insisted on making nice with her former acquaintance, who had nothing but nice things to say about her in return, and by the end of the episode, she’d fully gained Konstantin’s trust… at least, by her estimation. It was still a very dangerous move for the usually meek Iris to make, so what inspired her newfound drive, and what’...

[Editor’s note:The following article contains spoilers for Episode 5 of “The Boys” Season 4, “Beware of the Jabberwocky, My Son.”]
With the ending of Season 3 of “The Boys” seeing Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher diagnosed as terminally ill following multiple injections of Compound V, Season 4 sees him rushing to find a solution, while also being kept on a leash. Since his team doesn’t seem to want his help, he conspires with old CIA colleague Joe Kessler (new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but in this past week’s episode, “Beware of the Jabberwocky, My Son,” he starts to realize death may not be the only thing he has to worry about. In a recent interview with Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed the episode, acknowledging the mutated bunny Butcher encounters to be a bad omen.
“It doesn’t mean anything good,” he said. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I think Butcher is really starting to wonder what’s happening to him,...

As OWN’s superlative Greenleaf was coming to an end in the summer of 2020, creator Craig Wright was already planning a spinoff. (In fact, he discussed it at lengths with TVLine; read that interview here.) Almost a year later, leading lady Lynn Whitfield shared what she knew about the drama that was to be centered around her estimable matriarch Lady Mae. But since then… nothing.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “The Bear” Season 3, including the ending. Read our earlier review for a spoiler-free analysis.]
Welcome back, everyone, to the most stressful — and tastiest — place in Chicago.. “The Bear” is back, and Season 3 brings the heat in 10 new episodes filled with yelling, celebrity cameos, more yelling, celebrity chefs, and even more yelling after that.
FX’s Emmy-minted “comedy” always gives audiences plenty to chew on, and I’m not just talking about when Carmy “basically made nachos” by using “way too many components.” There are heart-soaring highs and misery-spiraling lows, some intentionally crafted by creator Christopher Storer and his talented team, and others unintentionally evoked amid the chaos of creating an ambitious, genre-bending TV show.
So with the full season already in our rearviews — what, how long does it take you to watch a six-hour season of TV? — let’s dig in and savor the best and worst of “The Bear” Season 3. And just for fun,...

On the first season of “The Bear,” Abby Elliot’s sister to Jeremy Allen White’s flawed, but masterful chef Carmy Berzatto, Natalie (mostly referred to as Sugar or Mom), didn’t get a lot of time to stand out. There may be intention in this. For all the characters, that first season represents a moment where everyone’s lives were upended by grief and shifting power dynamics. If there’s anyone who Carmy doesn’t want to disappoint, it’s Natalie, so facing her at a moment when he can’t face himself feels impossible.
By season 2 though, something has reopened inside of him. A passion. Maybe even a faith. It’s at this point that Carmy needs Natalie most. Though Richie and the Fak may have been around the Berzattos for a while, Natalie and Carmy have ridden the whole wild ride out hand-in-hand. In a recent interview with The New York Times,...

On Season 2 of the HBO TV series “The Gilded Age,” a rather timely plotline seemed to run parallel to the real-life conflict actors and writers faced last summer on the picket lines. “New money” robber-baron George Russell, based loosely on railroad magnates Cornelius Vanderbilt and Jay Gould and played by actor Morgan Spector, when faced with strikes from the steelworkers’ union, chooses to use a soft touch despite being pushed toward violence. He manages to end a strike without injury and offers concessions to the workers, but his larger plans seem to be aimed towards breaking up the union entirely.
Like his character, Spector is interested in the business side of the entertainment industry as much as the creative elements, especially when it came to SAG-AFTRA and WGA fighting for what they deserve.
“I feel like we had public support really solidly throughout, partly because I think unions are more...

Lynn Whitfield was only supposed to appear in three episodes of The Chi at first. What started as a guest star role evolved into a major presence in the Showtime series, which concludes its sixth season on Sunday, June 30 on the cable network. The logline for the episode says, “Thanksgiving marks a time for reunions and revelations as families gather to celebrate. As jaw-dropping events unfold, loyalties will be tested, bonds will be broken, tears will be shed, and some lives will be forever changed.” Whitfield joined TV Insider at our in-office studio in New York City to discuss her time on The Chi and preview what’s to come in the finale, and she warns of “tumultuous change” in the video interview above. Whitfield plays Alicia, the ferociously independent woman whom the actor describes as a mob boss type above. The mother of Rob (Iman Shumpert), Alicia suffers no...

Having been in the business for almost 50 years, gracing our television and cinema screens in shows like “Moesha” and “Abbott Elementary” and films “The Mighty Quinn” and “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit,” as well as the theatrical stage in the original production of “Dreamgirls,” Sheryl Lee Ralph should be considered a recognizable figure in the entertainment lexicon. And yet, in a recent piece for the Los Angeles Times, the Emmy-winning actress claims she’s repeatedly been mistaken for others.
“There was a point after ‘Dreamgirls’ [on Broadway] when I was getting on a plane, and someone was like, ‘Hi, Whitney.’ ‘I’m not Whitney Houston,’” she said she told the fellow passenger. “Time goes by, then the next person says, ‘Oh, Ms. Houston.’ ‘I am not Whitney Houston.’ Plane ride goes by, and the [flight attendant] comes with a bottle of wine and says, ‘I just want to say how much I adore you,...

[Editor’s note: The following article contains light spoilers for “My Lady Jane.”]
“My Lady Jane,” Prime Video’s latest dramedy, is based on a 2016 bestselling YA book about Lady Jane Grey (Emily Bader). But, as a narrator informs viewers in the first moments of Episode 1, they’re going to be playing very, very loose with the facts.
The show is a fantasy romance that imagines a new, more hopeful spin for Lady Jane.
Of course, this isn’t just a historical romance about a GirlBoss Lady. This show has the twist to end all twists (buckle in): Half the characters in this version of Tudor England are Ethians, meaning they can transform into animals, which they do, regularly. Fifteen minutes in, it’s the kind of big swing that isn’t going to be for everyone, particularly those who thought they were getting a more traditional anachronistic adaptation of 1500s England.
Is the silliness of “My Lady Jane” worth your time?...

Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and Luke Alvez’s (Adam Rodriguez) date may not have worked out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Criminal Minds: Evolution is done with the possibility of a romance there. In fact, serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) remarked on the “vibe” between them and commented about Garcia and Tyler Green (Ryan-James Hatanaka) and her having a thing that drove Luke crazy in the latest episode. “We hang out together a lot” in Season 17, Vangsness told TV Insider ahead of the premiere of Garcia and Alvez. “I keep saying the writers write things and we do what they say, and then they go like, ‘People talk about it. Let’s just have them have a date. And then can it be done?’ And we’re like, ‘Sure, it can be done.’ And then we do things and then you guys ask questions like that,” she laughed.

Even without Kevin Costner on the Yellowstone payroll, the Paramount Network series’ remaining stars are hyping up its final episodes ahead of Season 5B’s November 10 premiere date. “Clear your calendar. Grab your tissues. Remember the rom-com everyone was talking about a few months ago? Prime Video’s The Idea of You starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine was not your ordinary rom-com: an older woman dating a much younger man. Hathaway’s character falls for the lead singer in a boy band, who also happens to be 16 years her junior. Conflicts arise, judgements ensue, yet the story of these two kept people talking and asking questions like, “Is the main guy really based off of Harry Styles?” When Netflix released the trailer for their new movie, A Family Affair with Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron, just two months after The Idea of You released, we all thought the same thing: “Didn’t we just see this movie?” After watching both movies, it’s clear there are many similar themes and conflicts in the plots, but some major differences, too. Here are some we picked up on.

Want your chance to “come on down” on The Price Is Right? Then it’s worth knowing how the long-running CBS game show picks its contestants. As The Price is Right executive producer Evelyn Warfel explained exclusively to TV Insider, the show shoots three episodes a day, three or four days a week, and seven months a year to produce 190 episodes. Though tickets are reserved ahead of time and audience members are asked to arrive at Haven Studios in Glendale, California, by 8 Am, some eager fans arrive as early as 6 Am. Before each taping, The Price Is Right production assistants talk to audience members in interviews of one minute or less. “They usually ask what their favorite game is, where they’re from, what the show means to them. It’s really to see their energy and personality,” Warfel said. “We pick people for all different reasons, but if someone...

HBO’s The Leftovers starts with 2 percent of the world’s population suddenly disappearing for reasons unexplained — and the plot just gets more bizarre from there. Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta — and based on Perrotta’s novel of the same name — The Leftovers starred Justin Theroux, Christoper Eccleston, Carrie Coon, and Amy Brenneman, among others, as the ones left behind when the Sudden Departure strikes. The series debuted on June 29, 2014, and ran for three critically acclaimed seasons, topping critics’ year-end lists of top 10 TV shows more than 20 times. And as The Leftovers attests, there’s no telling what will happen after one of every 50 persons on this planet — and three out of four Perfect Strangers cast members — vanish into thin air. Some people want to be (non-fatally shot) in the chest. Some opt for orgies aboard ferries. And some start heralding the return of Gary Busey. Here are...

Eddie Murphy Recalls His Anger Over David Spade’s ‘Racist’ Joke on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in the ’90s
Eddie Murphy said he’s been the target of “cheap shots” over the years — including a “racist” joke that David Spade told on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” where Murphy had once been a cast member.
Murphy, in an interview published by the New York Times, said Spade’s joke on “SNL” about his supposedly failing career came after Murphy’s 1995 horror spoof “Vampire in Brooklyn” had flopped at the box office. The hurtful joke was part of Spade’s “Hollywood Minute” sketch from December of that year on the late-night show, in which — after a photo of Murphy popped...
