The teaser for Robert Eggers’ new film, ‘Nosferatu,’ dropped today, and the featured cast is stacked with an impressive list of talent. Eggers, who first hit the scene with the sinister 2015 film ‘The VVitch,’ has made a name for himself as a director who uses period-specific style to transport audiences to unfamiliar territories, from a desolate lighthouse in Nova Scotia to the brutal countryside of 10th century Iceland. But its the grounded performances from his talented casts that truly make Eggers’ films so memorable. If you’ve checked out the ‘Nosferatu’ teaser and the cast seemed familiar, IMDb is here to help you remember where you’ve seen these talented actors before.
Lily-Rose Depp
Lily-Rose Depp was most recently seen on Max’s short-lived drama series “The Idol,” where she played a pop star struggling back into the limelight with the help of a notorious nightclub owner. The actress stars in ‘Nosferatu’ as Ellen Hutter, the innocent object of the vampire’s desire.
Nicholas Hoult
‘Nosferatu’ isn’t the first time Nicholas Hoult has explored the realms of the undead. The talented British actor was the title role in the 2023 horror-comedy ‘Renfield,’ starred as a mute-but-caring zombie in ‘Warm Bodies,’ and played a key role as the half-life war boy Nux in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’ Now, he’ll step into the role of Thomas Hutter, husband to the afflicted Ellen Hutter played by Lily-Rose Depp.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Friedrich Harding is a ship merchant, which is likely a reinvention of the character played by Georg H. Schnell in the 1922 silent film version of ‘Nosferatu.’ If the actor seems familiar, it may be from his performance as Brian Tyree Henry’s twin brother Tangerine in last year’s action flick ‘Bullet Train,’ his supporting role as Pietro Maximoff in multiple Marvel movies, or his recent turn as a self-absorbed film star in ‘The Fall Guy.’
Willem Dafoe
Willem Dafoe is no stranger to playing vampires. The Academy Award-nominated actor starred in 2000’s ‘Shadow of the Vampire’ where he portrayed Max Schreck, the actor who played Nosferatu in the original silent film. You probably recognize Dafoe from some of his most famous 100+ acting credits, including last year’s ‘Poor Things’ and his two previous collaborations with Robert Eggers, ‘The Lighthouse’ and ‘The Northman.’
Ralph Ineson
The unmistakable deep voice of Ralph Ineson can be heard warning us that “he is coming.” The BAFTA Award nominee starred as Anya Taylor-Joy’s father in Robert Eggers’ first film, ‘The VVitch’ and lent his talents to the title role in A24’s ‘The Green Knight.’ You may have seen him this year as a priest on a mission in ‘The First Omen.’ In ‘Nosferatu,’ the actor will play Dr. Wilhelm Sievers, a role we can only assume will have to deal with the aftermath of the vampire’s attacks.
Bill Skarsgård
Although he is only shown as a silhouette in the trailer, Bill Skarsgård is set to star as the vampire Count Orlok, whose hunger for Ellen Hutter drives the story. Skarsgård has a history with the horror genre, playing Pennywise the clown in the two-part remake of ‘It’ and delivering a memorably unsettling performance in the indie hit ‘Barbarian.’ The Swedish actor’s horror bona fides continue to expand this year, as he takes on the role of Eric Draven in the remake of ‘The Crow.’
Emma Corrin
Also starring in ‘Nosferatu’ is Emma Corrin, known for her roles in Netflix’s “The Crown” as Princess Diana, as Darby Hart in “A Murder at the End of the World,” and in just a few weeks she’ll hit the big screen alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ In ‘Nosferatu,’ she’ll play Anna Harding, wife to Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Friedrich Harding and likely friend to Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen Hutter.

While we know filmmaker/actor John Krasinski as the defacto architect of the “A Quiet Place” franchise, he wrote and directed the first two and conceived the story for the upcoming edition, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” that’s only half the story. While Krasinski rewrote the script and made it his own, the original idea, concept and original screenplay for the post-apocalyptic science fiction horror came from writers turned directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.

‘Heretic’ Trailer: Hugh Grant Torments ‘Yellowjackets’ Star Sophie Thatcher in Religious Horror Film
Hugh Grant has been an Oompa Loompa, Tony the Tiger, Benoit Blanc’s husband, and now, apparently, a reclusive mad man with a penchant for tormenting young religious girls.
Grant leads A24 horror feature “Heretic,” the latest film from writers/directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods of “A Quiet Place” fame.
“Yellowjackets” breakout Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East star as two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed (Grant), becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Hiam Abbass, Aka Marcia Roy from Succession, returns to the village she left 30 years ago to become an actor, with her daughter Lina Soualem behind the camera
Hiam Abbass is the Franco-Palestinian actor who has been a consistent presence in international cinema for more than 20 years, but cut through ultimately with her role as Marcia Roy, wife of Brian Cox’s media potentate Logan Roy, in Jesse Armstrong’s hit HBO TV drama Succession. Now her own personal story emerges – partly – in this heartfelt cine-memoir directed by her daughter Lina Soualem, who was brought up in France.
This isn’t directly a story about what Palestinians call the Nakba or “catastrophe”: as a young woman, Abbass left her home village of Deir Hanna, near Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee’s western shore, to pursue an acting career in Europe. But now Soualem goes back there with Abbass to reconnect with her grandmother Nemat,...

In an interview the actor blamed cultural climate on casting issues as well as reflecting on his relationship with Madonna
Sean Penn says it would be currently impossible for him to play the part of a gay man, as he did in the 2008 film Milk, blaming a “timid and artless” current creative climate.
Penn was speaking to the New York Times about his earlier career, and responded to a question asking him if he would now be able to play Harvey Milk, the role for which Penn won a best actor Oscar. Saying that Milk “was the last time I had a good time [on a film set]”, Penn added: “It could not happen in a time like this. It’s a time of tremendous overreach. It’s a timid and artless policy toward the human imagination.”...

We're getting close to the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine," the only Marvel movie releasing in 2024, and arguably the biggest superhero film release since "Spider-Man: No Way Home." According to /Film's Ryan Scott, footage shown at this year's CinemaCon looked "funny, but not laugh-out-loud funny."
The film will see Deadpool taken out of the timeline by the Time Variance Authority and set out on a mission to change the history of the MCU. Along for the ride is one version of Hugh Jackman's Logan, aka Wolverine (just not necessarily one we've met before). One thing you should not expect this Wolverine to do is break the fourth wall like the Merc with a Mouth, because only Deadpool can break the fourth wall in a "Deadpool" movie.
Indeed, as director Shawn Levy told Vanity Fair, "There actually is a system here."
"There are rules. Very specific rules," Ryan Reynolds added.

Jeremy Renner admitted in a recent “Smartless” podcast interview that he doesn’t “have the energy” to take on more demanding roles as he continues his recovery from his near-fatal snow plow accident.
“I just don’t have the energy for it. I don’t have the fuel,” Renner said. “I have so much fuel to put into this reality, this body, all this stuff. I can’t just go play make-believe right now. Because that takes a lot of time to get right here every day just so I can have a positive thought, so I can progress, so I can always keep growing.”
In January 2023, Renner was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries after his Sno-Cat, a large snow plow weighing more than 14,000 pounds, ran him over. He returned to the set of “Mayor of Kingstown” in January of this year to film the third season.

Heart-lifting adaptation of Doyle’s children’s novel follows cheeky 12-year-old Mia as she faces the loss of her beloved granny
Roddy Doyle’s novel for kids, about childhood grief, has been turned into a gorgeous family animation with a big heart, charming without being too sugary. It’s a gentle introduction to death with its non-religious message that in the end, when someone dear to us dies, what we are left with is their love, and what they have shown us about how to love.
A cheeky, flame-haired 12-year-old Dublin girl called Mary, voiced by Mia O’Connor, wants to be a famous chef when she grows up. The movie opens with Mary competing for the summer camp at an elite catering school. When the snooty judges criticise her tarte tartin, Mary’s grandmother Emer (Rosaleen Linehan) lets rips at “the eejits with the clipboards”. Back at home, granny Emer...

She’s the subject of a new documentary, has just announced her farewell tour, and is about to play Glastonbury. The singer and songwriter discusses Trump, resilience and why she hated being pitted against Madonna
Once you’ve had a feature-length documentary made about you, it’s surely time to accept you’ve reached legendary status? Cyndi Lauper laughs. “My dogs don’t think so,” she says, to the sound of barking. Then, to her dogs: “You gotta stop, guys!”
Lauper is the subject of Let the Canary Sing, a new film by Alison Ellwood. It follows Lauper from her difficult childhood with an abusive stepfather, through the New York music scene and early bands, to the release of feminist anthem Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and beyond. There are clashes with music execs who don’t understand Lauper’s art school sensibility and want her to compete with Madonna,...

The Locarno Film Festival will honor multiple Oscar winner Ben Burtt — the sound designer, editor and voice actor behind the ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ franchises — with its lifetime achievement award dedicated to creative pioneers.
The prominent Swiss fest celebrating international indie cinema will be feting Burtt, best known for voicing Wall-e and creating Darth Vader’s mechanical breathing, with its Vision Award Ticinomoda.
1977’s “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope” was one of the first films he worked on. It was Burtt who created the lightsaber’s famous hum, which he says came from a broken TV set and a film projector.
“The beeping of R2D2. The Wilhelm Scream. The swoosh of the lightsaber. Darth Vader’s heavy, mechanical breathing. ‘Wall-e’’s electronic warble. Ewokese, the language spoken on the moon of Endor. All of these came from the mind of a single man: Ben Burtt,” Locarno said in a statement.

Unsettling documentary considers whether the increasingly popular simulations of lost loved ones are really helping the bereaved
In the future, it’s possible that you won’t have to die. You’ll simply upload yourself. Or download a deceased loved one. In fact, some of this stuff isn’t even in the future; AI griefbots are already imitating the dead. Canadian writer Joshua Barbeau, devastated after the death of girlfriend Jessica, brought her back virtually using the website Project December. He uploaded some of Jessica’s texts to give an impression of her messaging style, and the results were uncanny. His first text conversation with simulation Jessica lasted all night; when he woke up with his head next to his laptop, she was waiting for his reply. It was like a weight had been lifted, he says.

“Devi Chowdhurani,” helmed by Subhrajit Mitra, has become the first Bengali-language film to secure official Indo-u.K. co-production status. The period drama, starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee alongside Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Arjun Chakraborty, Darshana Banik, Bibriti Chatterjee and Kinjal Nanda, is produced by Adited Motion Pictures (U.S./India) and Lok Arts Collective (India/U.K.), with the U.K.’s Hc Films and Moringa Studios serving as co-producers.
The project, now in early post-production, adapts Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay‘s 1884 novel about one of India’s first female freedom fighters. Composer Pandit Bickram Ghosh is on board for the score.
India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Nfdc, Ffo and Invest India, along with the U.K.’s BFI and Dcms, greenlit the co-production status.
Adited Motion Pictures’ Aparna and Aniruddha Dasgupta called the recognition “a dream come true,” while Lok Arts Collective’s Soumyajit Majumdar emphasized the importance of international co-productions for global exposure.

This film following a group travelling 3,000 miles to investigate plastic pollution reveals some shocking truths, even if it feels a little light on science
Co-founded by environmental activist Emily Penn in 2014, not-for-profit organisation eXXpedition has made waves with their all-women voyages to remote sea territories, where their members witness firsthand the startling scale of marine plastic pollution. Taking part in the project in 2018, film-maker Eleanor Church was among a multidisciplinary cohort who set sail across 3,000 miles towards the North Pacific gyre, the infamous “garbage patch” where ocean plastics have been accumulating since the 1950s.
The arduous journey is one of both heartache and beauty. There are moments of sheer wonder, as the awestruck women observe a pod of dolphins spin, jump and glide across the cerulean sea. The same shimmering waves, however, also carry countless pieces of plastic, which irreversibly disrupt existing ecosystems. Throughout their three-week odyssey, the crew collect samples from the seawater,...

"Star Wars" is filled with side characters, weird little guys that show up for maybe a few minutes but make such an impact that fans remember them decades later even if we don't actually hear their names in the movies. These are characters that fans get very excited to see their stories expanded when they return to the franchise years later.
One such character is Dexter Jettster, a man with a great name, and a better design: a four-armed alien with a big mustache, an even bigger gullet, and a greasy shirt. He appears in a seemingly random scene in "Attack of the Clones," during its noir-inspired subplot where Obi-Wan goes on a little investigation like he's a private eye, and meets his old friend Dexter at his diner.

Alec Baldwin’s lawyers argued on Monday that his manslaughter case should be thrown out because investigators destroyed the key piece of evidence: his Colt .45 revolver.
Baldwin is due to face a trial in two weeks in Santa Fe, N.M., on the charge that he negligently shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021.
Baldwin has denied pulling the trigger, and the defense has suggested the gun had been modified so it could go off more easily. During testing in 2022, an FBI examiner struck the gun with a mallet, breaking the internal components such that the hammer would no longer stay in the fully cocked position.
Baldwin’s lawyer, John Bash, argued that the testing deprived the defense of a full opportunity to examine the gun in its original condition, noting that the examiner did not even disassemble the gun prior to the destructive testing or photograph its internal components.

Perhaps the best thing to come out of Hollywood's never-ending attempts to turn hit TV shows into movies is Phil Lord & Chris Miller's hilarious take on "21 Jump Street" starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Taking a cue from the beloved TV series that premiered in 1987 with cast members like Johnny Depp and Richard Grieco, the 2012 action comedy follows the awkward but smart Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and dimwitted, popular star athlete Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) in their post-high school lives as they become unlikely friends and partners on the police force when they're assigned to an undercover assignment to bust a drug ring in high school.
"21 Jump Street" has just enough meta sensibilities in the story to poke fun at Hollywood's formula of turning TV shows into movies without becoming a full-blown parody, and it also features delightful supporting turns from Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Nick Offerman,...

At the beginning of Nicholas Meyer's "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," Captain Hikaru Sulu (George Takei) is in command of the USS Excelsior, a prototype spacecraft with a newfangled transwarp drive allowing it to travel faster than any ship yet built. The Excelsior was first glimpsed in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," and Sulu, still serving on board the USS Enterprise at the time, stared at new the ship in utter awe. He couldn't have guessed at that moment that he would one day be its captain.
Sulu's captaincy gave the character a satisfying arc. When audiences first saw him in the original "Star Trek," he was a helmsman bearing the rank of lieutenant. In "Star Trek VI," made 25 years later, he was finally in command. If one accepts expanded universe lore culled from ancillary books and the like, Sulu would eventually become an Admiral and...

It’s hard to believe it took network TV audiences more than a full season to pick up on the burning brilliance of Greg Daniels’ “The Office.”
On March 25, 2005, the pilot episode of a mockumentary series about a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania debuted to just over 11 million viewers in the United States. The show wasn’t immediately acclaimed, with numerous TV critics arguing the so-called remake failed to adequately justify itself in Season 1.
Yes, the history-making NBC sitcom seemed at first like little more than a bastardization of the popular U.K. series, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in 2003. But for audiences lucky enough to binge the show in the streaming age, already knowing what it and its myriad talents (Mindy Kaling! B.J. Novak! Rainn Wilson! John Krasinski!) would become, the lovable goofs of Dunder Mifflin had us at jello.

Scarlett Johansson confirmed to ComicBook.com that she is, in fact, headlining the next “Jurassic World” movie, which is being directed by “Rogue One” and “Godzilla” filmmaker Gareth Edwards from a script penned by David Koepp. The screenwriter is returning to the dinosaur franchise after having penned Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” (1993) and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997).
“I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan,” Johansson said. “It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”

Just three years ago, it seemed like the summer blockbuster might be a thing of the past. After Covid kept cinemas closed across the United States for the majority of 2020, the box office reopened in 2021 on uncertain footing, as many movies flopped and overall movie grosses leaned toward the softer side. That summer seemed like the harbinger of the end for the seasonal release strategy that “Jaws” perfected all the way back in 1975, wherein the hottest months hosts the biggest titles — marketed aggressively to theatergoers. The movie theater business had been in crisis for awhile now, but the pandemic seemed to speed along their predicted demise, as the streaming age ended the era when movies could be events. So thank goodness for “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.”

Disney had a pretty rough year at the box office in 2023, suffering huge flops with films like "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and "The Marvels." But things are looking up as we enter the second half of 2024, as "Inside Out 2" has already become the highest-grossing movie of the year, dethroning "Dune: Part Two" to take the crown in a mere nine days. In the process, it has managed to accomplish something that no movie has accomplished since 2019 when "Avengers: Endgame" hit theaters en route to becoming (for a time) the biggest movie in history.
Director Kelsey Mann's "Inside Out 2" cleared $101 million domestically in its second weekend, dropping just 35% after its record-breaking opening. It is now just the seventh movie in history to make at least $100 million on its second weekend in theaters. The last time that happened? When "Endgame" pulled in an astonishing $114.7 million on...

Bill Belichick Roasted ‘The Dynasty’ as Hit Job, but the Docuseries’ Director Respectfully Disagrees
When coach Bill Belichick took the podium at Tom Brady’s Roast, he used the opportunity to take a dig at the 10-part docuseries “The Dynasty” about the great New England Patriots teams he coached.
“I’m so honored to be here for the roast of Tom Brady on Netflix,” said Belichick. “It’s not to be confused with the roast of Bill Belichick on the 10-part Apple TV series.”
This sentiment that “The Dynasty” has an anti-Belichick slant, has been stoked publicly by former players (some of whom participated in the documentary) and had gasoline thrown on it by the Boston sports media. In an interview with IndieWire, director Matt Hamachek brushed aside the criticism.
“I certainly had no dog in this fight,” said Hamachek. “I think that a lot of the reaction probably stems from Bill no longer being on the team.”
What Hamachek is pointing to is how the docuseries’ biggest twist,...

“I certainly had no dog in this fight,” said Hamachek. “I think that a lot of the reaction probably stems from Bill no longer being on the team.”
What Hamachek is pointing to is how the docuseries’ biggest twist,...

The internet loves to dissect things, from how a major star ended up getting a Dwi to how exactly Kim Cattrall came to record her scat singing video. But one thing that people still can’t confirm is how “The Sopranos” ended up turning to slo-mo and a wipe cut in a Season 5 episode.
It’s not for lack of trying.
For years, Reddit users have obsessed over the Episode 10 (“Cold Cuts”) moment in which Carmela blurts out to an ex-lover that she’s returning to her estranged husband, Tony, fueled partly because of massive pandemic watches. The episode’s director, Mike Figgis, briefly mentioned the wipe transition in his commentary on the series’ DVD set. And the question came up again during the interview process for Alan Seppinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz’s definitive making-of book, “The Sopranos Sessions.”
But the question still tickled people’s fancies, so Seitz...

Jodie Foster recently chatted with “The Bikeriders” star Jodie Comer for Interview magazine and got honest about her relationship to acting. The two-time Oscar winner for best actress admitted that she’s “never fell in love with the acting part” of her career and the “technical sides of filmmaking” have always interested her more.
“I’ve always made movies by myself, where it was just about my character, and I didn’t have to deal with the other actors,” Foster said. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to understand that was selfish of me, jealously guarding something that I didn’t want to share. Now I’m learning to enter in and say, ‘How are we together and dynamic?’ Instead of it all being about me. It has been so interesting, because now I meet all these actors that do everything differently.”

Despite the relative lack of romance on "The Bear," the show still has a major section of Carmy/Sydney shippers in the fanbase. It's hard to blame them; there's clearly some sort of spark between the two, and their relationship feels like the central source of tension behind the series. The big fan debate is all about whether this tension is romantic in nature, or if it's more of a platonic work soulmate sort of situation.
At a recent press conference for the upcoming season 3, /Film's Ben Pearson listened in as Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri were asked about a potential love story between their two characters. Were there any romantic implications intended in Carm and Sid's relationship? Ayo Edebiri's answer was an immediate, "No." Allen White's answer was "No. No, there was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between those characters]."

It’s well-proven that Emmy winner Jodie Comer excels at accent work.
The actor’s Russian accent as psychopathic assassin Villanelle in “Killing Eve” was so good that playwright Suzie Miller nearly passed on her to star in “Prima Facie” because the play was written for someone from Liverpool.. Now, in Jeff Nichols’ latest film, “The Bikeriders,” about the rise and fall of a Midwestern motorcycle club in the 1960s, she puts on a working-class Chicago accent to play Kathy, a strong-willed woman who falls for a free-spirited biker named Benny (Austin Butler) and finds herself competing with Johnny (Tom Hardy), the club’s leader, for his attention and devotion.
The Searchlight movie is inspired by the 1967 photography book “The Bikeriders” by Danny Lyon, who captured the story of the Vandals motorcycle club. He’d recorded interviews with members of the club too, so Comer had about 30 minutes of the...

Sean Penn recently said in an interview with The New York Times that 2008’s “Milk” was “the last time I had a good time” on a film set, adding: “I went 15 years miserable on sets.” While Penn earned critical acclaim and his second Oscar for best actor thanks to his portrayal of the openly gay politician Harvey Milk, he told The Times he could not star in the film today as straight actors playing queer characters has become too hotly debated in Hollywood.
“No. It could not happen in a time like this,” Penn said about not playing Harvey Milk in 2024. “It’s a time of tremendous overreach. It’s a timid and artless policy toward the human imagination.”
As for his 15 miserable years on film sets, Penn said it was because he felt like “an actor who is playing a leading role and is a known actor and is...

She's blonde, she's dangerous, and she's a motherf***ing movie star. The end of Ti West's "X" trilogy, "MaXXXine," is heading our way, and the Mia Goth vehicle has proven to be one of 2024's most anticipated releases. West has already said that the film will be "different from 'X' and nothing like 'Pearl,'" which is understandable considering the former was evoking the gritty realism of 1970s slashers, while the latter was like "The Wizard of Oz" in Hell. Goth returns as her "X" character Maxine Minx six years after the events of "X," and 67 years after "Pearl." This is a film to get us into the mind of Maxine and how she came to be. West's trilogy has thus far been tackling themes of fame, beauty, envy, youth, and the brutal acknowledgment that life isn't fair, and "MaXXXine" looks to be continuing those explorations.

It’s taken six long years for a third “Deadpool” movie to arrive and then morph into “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and the reasons seemed clear from the jump: integrating a foul-mouthed R-rated character into the PG-13 world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe proved to be tricky and complicated for Marvel, Ryan Reynolds and everyone involved. And according to a new Vanity Fair story, a third “Deadpool” movie was almost scrapped—it took Hugh Jackman to change his mind about reprising his famous Wolverine character before the movie finally came to life.

John Krasinski’s “If” (Paramount) needs strong post-theatrical results to make it a success. Initial results from PVOD ($19.99 rental), which reached #1 right away at both iTunes and Fandango, suggest it is headed in the right direction.
In the short term, it might be able to sustain that pace; its main competition will be this week’s release of the underperforming “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” More critical is whether it can sustain multiple weeks at higher levels. With a $110 million before-marketing cost, $180 million in worldwide gross needs supplementing.
Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man” is sustaining its run. Netflix’s $20 million worldwide acquisition, after an above-average 10 days as #1 on its top 10 movie viewing chart, is still at #2. “Trigger Warning,” a far less-acclaimed Netflix original, is currently #1. The action/thriller title, which stars Jessica Alba and is the American debut for Indonesian director Mouly Surya, was filmed nearly three years ago.

Everybody has their kinks and all, but there's just something different about "Deadpool" movies and the way they keep flirting with never actually seeing the light of day. The original 2016 film notoriously came this close to remaining a hypothetical as a fun concept that simply couldn't get over the finish line, until some test footage mysteriously leaked and stirred up enough public interest to convince what was then 20th Century Fox to officially greenlight the picture. As much as the first movie felt like a true underdog story, however, we're now finding out that this year's "Deadpool & Wolverine" went through a very similar predicament. The Merc with the Mouth's latest savior wasn't the unknown party who broke every rule in the book back in 2015 to show the fans what they were missing out on -- okay, enough beating around the bush, since we all know the culprit was almost certainly Ryan Reynolds himself.

“X-Men” screenwriter David Hayter recently told TMZ that he is thrilled by Alan Cumming’s recent revelation that the 2003 sequel “X2: X-Men United” is the “gayest film” the actor has ever worked on in his career. Cumming starred as the mutant Nightcrawler in the comic book movie. Hayter, who had sole screenwriting credit on the original “X-Men” movie, co-wrote the “X2” script with Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
“I was thrilled Alan Cumming called ‘X2’ the gayest film he’d ever worked on. It made me really happy,” Hayter said. “I’m so glad we did right by him. He’s such an icon for gay rights. Ian McKellen also really recognized the allegory of it from a gay perspective.”
Hayter added that the team’s goal for the “X-Men” movies was to appeal to “anyone who faced hatred or exclusion or judgement and still felt compelled to do the right thing.

Channing Tatum recently told ComicBook.com that he is still very much interested in making “23 Jump Street” with Jonah Hill. The film would serve as a sequel to their R-rated comedy blockbusters “21 Jump Street” (2012) and “22 Jump Street” (2014).
A third movie was officially put in development by Sony Pictures in Sept. 2014 with “22 Jump Street” scribe Rodney Rothman hired to pen the script. It was then revealed a few months later during the notorious Sony hack that “23 Jump Street” was being designed as a crossover with the “Men in Black” franchise. Variety reported in March 2016 the crossover film was moving forward with director James Bobin, but it ultimately never got off the ground.
“There is a project that was written and it’s still the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie,” Tatum told ComicBook.com, while promoting his upcoming movie “Fly Me to the Moon.
