Does anyone know whether the series ending will either be conclusive or abrupt? I've never read it.

Since everyone is saying this is not gonna get a second season, I guess it's time to start the manga. Even though I waited years because I loved the anime and didn't want to get spoiled Sad

It's definitely going to be conclusive. The series has been very clearly heading towards an ending for the last while, only stalled by the author taking several hiatuses to prepare for it.

This is one of those manga where I'm not sure I entirely enjoyed where it went, on a personal level, but I sure respect the heck out of it for going the places it did. It's an uncomfortable read that is uncomfortable for most of the right reasons.
