Bradley Cooper may not have won an Oscar, but he did win a role on “Abbott Elementary.”
The “Maestro” actor stopped by to play himself in the cold open of the “Abbott” episode that aired directly after ABC’s telecast of the 96th Academy Awards. In the scene, a student in Melissa’s (Lisa Ann Walter) class brings Cooper to campus.
“Whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop,” the Pennsylvania native says. “My dad used to always take me there. They have the best hoagies in the city.” His second grade friend retorts, “Everybody wanted to take a picture with him, so I figured he was famous.”
Though the scene was obviously taped well before the Oscars, it doesn’t seem the “Abbott Elementary” writers were predicting a win for Cooper, instead allowing him to self deprecate about his much-talked about Oscar campaign.

Jimmy Kimmel closed out his latest Oscars hosting gig by reading former President Donald Trump’s review of his performance — and it wasn’t pretty. Kimmel took an “extra minute” at the end of the ceremony to read aloud Trump’s mean comments, which made the host “really proud.” Trump’s review, which was posted on Truth Social, began: “Has there Ever been a Worse Host than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.” The former president’s disses didn’t stop there. He added that the network should “get rid of Kimmel” and replace him with “George Slopanopoulos,” referring to Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos. The Apprentice alum continued, “He [Stephanopoulos] would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Also a really bad politically correct show tonight,...

Abbott Elementary may not have aired in its usual timeslot this past week, but there was a good reason for it as the ABC comedy aired an Oscars night episode featuring a very special guest star: Maestro‘s Bradley Cooper. The Oscar-nominated performer and director made a cameo appearance as himself in the opening moments of the Sunday night broadcast as he stepped into the halls of the titular school. Pulled into Melissa’s (Lisa Ann Walter) classroom by one of Abbott’s students, Cooper was put on the spot. (Credit: ABC) Eager to understand how he’s there, she asks what brings him to Philly, and the Pennsylvania native mentions that the sub shop across the street is his first stop whenever he visits because it holds a lot of nostalgia. “They have the best hoagies in the city,” Cooper says. As he’s put in the metaphorical spotlight,...

The 2024 Oscars came down to one final acting race as the category of Lead Actress arrived just before Best Picture was presented. The highly-anticipated category unveiled that Emma Stone was the winner for her performance in Poor Things. The win marks Emma’s second after her 2017 victory in the category for the film La La Land in which she starred alongside Barbie‘s Ryan Gosling. When it came down to the race in that category, Lily Gladstone was a favored candidate to win for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon. A first-time nominee, Gladstone would have been the first Native American to win in any acting category, achieving a major milestone with her performance as Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese‘s epic film chronicling the Osage murders in Oklahoma. Ultimately, that wasn’t the case as fans took to social media to weigh in on the outcome. See...

Part of every awards show is the In Memoriam segment, which honors those who have died in the past year. And that also means that part of every awards show is taking note of who didn’t make the cut (as happens every time). The 2024 Oscars are no exception. Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performed “Time to Say Goodbye” for the 2024 Oscars In Memoriam segment. Among the names part of the segment—at the end, the broadcast directed viewers to a website for the “many other legends we lost”—were: Michael Gambon, Harry Belafonte, Alan Arkin, Julian Sands, Andre Braugher, Chita Rivera, Tom Wilkinson, Glynis Johns, Jane Birkin, Paul Reubens, Piper Laurie, Richard Roundtree, Ryan O’Neal, Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Lee Sun-Kyun, Carl Weathers, William Friedkin, Glenda Jackson, and Tina Turner. The In Memoriam segment, which you can watch above, did end with a long list of names on...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Season 1, Episode 3, “Bye.”] Anne, Jadis… whatever name you call her, Pollyanna McIntosh‘s Walking Dead survivor (the first character to appear in three different series within The Walking Dead Universe) is an unmovable force— one that can’t help but get in the way for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and surely will cause trouble for his katana-wielding love, Michonne (Danai Gurira), as well in AMC‘s latest spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Though Rick and Michonne technically have Jadis to thank for Rick’s survival after the bridge explosion in the mothership series, it’s also because of her that Rick is even trapped in the Civic Republic. And Jadis isn’t done with these two yet…not even close. Below, McIntosh, who took a break from shooting Netflix‘s fourth season of Outer Banks in Morocco to chat with us,...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Regime Season 1 Episode 2.] The Regime‘s glittering palace is a pretty place to stage a threat. Martha Plimpton made her debut as American Senator Judith Holt in Episode 2, which aired Sunday, March 10 on HBO. The politician quickly learned that the newly rejuvenated Chancellor Elena Vernham (Kate Winslet) is eager to keep biting back at the American government and prove that her country of Middle Europe can’t be controlled (read: she can’t be). This sudden surge in confidence is brought to you by the zealous bodyguard Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts) and his favorite rural remedy: potato steam. In Episode 2, two weeks have passed since Elena made her bold statement that effectively told western powers to buzz off. America still wants access to Middle Europe’s cobalt mine, so Senator Holt shows face in Elena’s closed-off palace. Elena is offended that they’re sending a woman to repair relations,...

The Oscars may be all about the winners, but for some viewers of the annual awards ceremony, it’s all about the performances. None were so highly anticipated as Ryan Gosling‘s presentation of the Barbie hit “I’m Just Ken,” which he performed alongside fellow nominee Mark Ronson and dozens of others. The ballad which plays in the final half of the blockbuster hit was not the only tune nominated for Best Song as Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell took to the stage earlier in the ceremony to perform “What Was I Made For?” Eilish and O’Connell’s song ultimately was the night’s big winner. The performance started in the audience where Gosling sang directly to costar Margot Robbie who couldn’t hold her laughter back as he serenaded her in a pink suit while donning sunglasses. From there, Gosling moved to the stage where he...

John Cena made one memorable entrance at the 2024 Oscars on March 10. The WWE wrestler-turned-actor presented the Best Costume Design award naked. Yes, you read that right. Before the Best Costume Design award presentation, Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel recalled the moment Robert Opel streaked across the stage during the 1974 Oscars. “Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?” Kimmel asked. Kimmel repeated his question, and Cena popped his head out from the side of the stage. A nervous Cena called Kimmel over and explained that he didn’t want to streak naked across the stage anymore. “I just don’t feel right about it, man,” Cena told Kimmel. “It’s an elegant event. Hollywood’s cutest star made it to the 2024 Oscars after all. Messi, the adorable Border Collie who played Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall, was one of the stars sitting inside the Dolby Theatre during the Oscars ceremony on March 10. This marked the precious pup’s first Oscars ceremony. During Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars monologue, the host gave Messi a shoutout. The camera panned to Messi, who was sitting quietly in the audience. “Not even 20 years ago, things weren’t going that great for Robert [Downey Jr.],” Kimmel began. “He played the villain in, correct me if I have this wrong, a movie where Tim Allen turns into a dog, right? Later in the segment, Koppel sits down exclusively with Kimmel and Molly McNearney, the executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, tonight’s Oscars broadcast ep, and yes, Kimmel’s wife.

Film and TV conferences are a lot like Renaissance fairs. Attendees come to escape and to immerse themselves in their favorite worlds and stories, and the programming and politics are puppeted behind the scenes by mysterious “organizers” who build that experience and pull all the strings.
Okay, it might be a stretch — but if the behind-the-scenes revelations in Lance Oppenheim’s “Ren Faire” are any indication, there’s way more going on beneath the surface of any festival than visitors can even imagine. The HBO docuseries premiered its first episode at South by Southwest on March 9, teasing audiences with a grand and dramatic arc they’ll have to wait to complete.

Osbourne also agreed when Walsh, a music manager who judged the British X Factor, said that Osbourne was faultless. “I did nothing wrong,” she said, echoing Walsh’s words. And when Simon, a cast member of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, asked if Osbourne couldn’t work in American TV now, Osbourne said, “I can legally, but nobody will employ me because they say I’m racist.” Simon then pointed out that Osbourne is Jewish, Us Weekly reports. “I know, and that’s what I said to them!

But credit where it’s due: SNL elevated the bit to memorable status by recreating the Alabama Senator’s weird theatrics and creepy demeanor—not to mention every detail of her startlingly expensive- but banal-looking kitchen—and casting an imported major movie star to assume the role, Scarlett Johansson. But you don’t have to stop with these: Hulu now carries the run of the medical drama, plus new episodes starting March 15, the day after they air on ABC. 1. “A Hard Day’s Night” (Season 1 Episode 1) The first shift at Seattle Grace for surgical interns Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), George O’Malley (T.R. Knight), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) sets the tone for the instantly addictive series. The hour is marked by competition, anxiety, lust and bad decisions—like Meredith unwittingly bedding her new boss, skilled neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). 2. “As We Know It” (Season 2 Episode 17) Everett Collection This iconic conclusion of a nail-biting two-parter finds Meredith with her hand inside a patient’s chest cavity, trying to stem his bleeding and keep an embedded explosive from detonating.

It’s hard to decide what’s more concerning about the March 12 episode of FBI: Most Wanted: the case, with a serial killer, or what’s going on in Sheryll Barnes’ (Roxy Sternberg) life outside of work, since we’re such fans of her marriage. In “Hollow,” the Fugitive Task Force heads upstate to assist in a search for missing and murdered Indigenous women and hunt down the serial killer responsible. Meanwhile, Barnes struggles to find time to bond with her wife, Charlotte (Fedna Jacquet). And something tells us this case won’t make that any easier. Below, Sternberg previews the challenges to come. The job is taking a toll on Barnes’ marriage. How would you describe Barnes and Charlotte’s relationship at this point? Roxy Sternberg: I think Barnes is somewhat oblivious to—of course, I think she’s aware that they could benefit from some date nights and extra time.

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst donned his turn-of-the-millennium apparel for the SXSW world premiere of “Y2K,” the Kyle Mooney-directed teen disaster comedy in which the rapper plays himself.
“Y2K” follows two high schoolers who crash a New Year’s Eve party on the last night of 1999 when they realize that the projected computer apocalypse is actually happening before their eyes. Claudette Godfrey, president of SXSW Film and TV, introduced the film by joking that it was an honest depiction of what happened that night.

Ariana Grande wasn’t just the musical guest during the March 9 episode of “Saturday Night Live.” While she took the stage to perform two songs from “Eternal Sunshine,” her just-released sixth album, “We Can’t Be Friends” and “Imperfect For You” — and was introduced by her mom, Joan Grande, for the second number — she also took on two different sketches.
After appearing as a patient in a group therapy session during the first half of the show, she was invited back to the stage later on in the night for a “Moulin Rouge” spoof, giving her the opportunity to sing covers of multiple hit songs.

On “Saturday Night Live” March 9, Josh Brolin was the host and Ariana Grande the musical guest, but the appearance everyone is talking about is Scarlett Johansson as Katie Britt, the Alabama Senator whose Republican response to the 2024 State of the Union address drew widespread mockery even from conservative pundits. Wearing a plastered smile, and a beweled cross fitting for both “da church and da club,” Johansson’s Britt was probably the high point of “SNL’s” entire take on 2024 politics this season to date.
“Tonight I’ll be auditioning for the part of Scary Mom. And I’ll be performing an original monologue called ‘This Country Is Hell.’ You see, I’m not just a senator. I’m a wife, a mother, and the craziest bitch in the Target parking lot. I’m worried about the future of our children, and this is why I’ve invited you into this strange empty kitchen.

“Saturday Night Live” kicked off the March 9 episode mocking President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address — but more so, the Republican response. After Mikey Day’s Biden spoke to Congress and mocked House Speaker Mike Johnson shaking his head — “every time I say predecessor, Mike Johnson shakes his head like he just accidentally caught 30 seconds of the show ‘Euphoria'” — he threw it to Katie Britt, the Alabama senator.
With that, Scarlett Johansson appeared as Britt, stating, “Tonight I’ll be auditioning for the part of ‘Scary Mom.’ I’ll be performing an original monologue called ‘This Country is Hell.

Amber Riley, who starred as Mercedes in “Glee,” revealed on the “And That’s What You Really Missed” podcast that she refused to film a sex scene with Chord Overstreet’s character Sam.
“I told [‘Glee’ co-creator] Brad [Falchuk], ‘Absolutely not,’” Riley shared with her former co-stars and podcast hosts Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale. “He gave me the blue pages or whatever. It was written. I said, ‘No.’”
Riley said there was a planned “full-blown” sex scene where Mercedes loses her virginity to her boyfriend, Sam. After Riley rejected the idea, Falchuk pitched a more toned down angle for the scene.

It’s been nearly three years since Conan O’Brien ended his late-night talk show on TBS, promising a future TV project on the streaming service Max. Now that new project finally has a premiere date: April 18th.
O’Brien made the announcement himself Saturday while previewing the series before an audience at South By Southwest.

As first reported by Variety’s Michael Schneider, O’Brien told the crowd at SXSW, “there are funny people all over the globe and they all have their own rhythm.

SXSW can’t get enough of Jean Smart.
The crowd at Austin’s Paramount theater erupted as Smart walked down the aisle to find her seat at the Saturday morning world premiere of “Hacks” Season 3, in which she plays aging comedian Deborah Vance. The Max comedy series has been off the air for two years, during which Smart suffered a health scare and underwent a heart procedure that delayed production.
“We love you, Jean!” an attendee screamed as the applause began to die down. “Love you back!” she called out.

“It’s a little early for comedy,” “Hacks” co-creator Jen Statsky told the audience at South by Southwest on Saturday, March 9. In her defense, it was noon, but to counter — it’s never too early for “Hacks.”
The Emmy-winning HBO comedy created by Statsky, Lucia Aniello, and Paul W. Downs has been away for two years, one of many shows proving the aphorism “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” as production delays in Hollywood kept it from its adoring fans. Those fans packed Austin’s Paramount theater on Saturday to cheer and cackle and give a standing ovation to star Jean Smart — one of the only SXSW premieres dealing not solely in hype and hope, but with a dedicated audience who know and love the series.

For decades, NASCAR has offered a squeaky-clean motorsports product, letting its horsepower and rivalries do most of the talking. Recently, ratings and attendance have flattened or dropped. But expect that to change thanks to NASCAR: Full Speed, a docu-series in the mold of Netflix’s popular Formula 1: Drive to Survive. These five episodes show drivers for who they are—humorous, tough-talking, vulnerable humans willing to knock their fellows out of the way if it means winning. The series focuses on the elite stars during the Cup Series’ final 10-week stretch, with cameras spending more time showing contenders off the track than on. It has gotten people talking—including word of a potential Season 2. “You have to change with the times,” says Ryan Blaney, whose capture of the championship ends the finale. “I think NASCAR has gotten into their heads that we have to continue to evolve.” One thing that...

Get in losers, the Damians are talking. Full disclosure: This. Yeah, it’s a strange and so-flattering thing to be linked to such an indelible character as Mean Girls‘ Damian. He’s an icon, he’s a scene stealer and he’s joyful proof that you’re never too gay to function. He’s also heavily influenced by my brother Jim (especially the stage version originated by the flawless Grey Henson on Broadway): We’re both huge homos who grew up with Tina Fey doing summer theater in Upper Darby, Pa in the ’80s, having movie nights at our parents’ house and eating our feelings. But Jim doesn’t even go here—by “here,” I mean work in the media—so when the folks at Paramount suggested a chat with Daniel Franzese and Jaquel Spivey, the two actors who have played Damian on screen, in support of the digital...
