In the game of football, possession is everything.
When it comes to this year’s Super Bowl, one studio will dominate the field by running nearly a dozen spots for its upcoming and existing releases. Paramount is expected to unveil ads for the post-apocalyptic horror prequel “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the reggae biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” and “If,” the live-action fantasy comedy directed by John Krasinski and starring Ryan Reynolds. The studio’s outsized presence makes sense because the big game will air on CBS, a sister company of Paramount.
Paramount will loom large over the Super Bowl because, beyond the studio’s cinematic offerings, it will use promotional space for Paramount+. The studio’s streaming service will unspool eight ads for such titles as “Sonic the Hedgehog” spinoff “Knuckles” (a series that the studio produced for Paramount+), animated adventure “The Tiger’s Apprentice,” the Sylvester Stallone-led reality...

When it comes to The Bachelor, there are a lot of ladies vying for the heart of Joey Graziadei, but they’re each unique in their own ways, which is a leading argument fans are making after the show’s official social media page tagged the wrong Asian-American contestant in a recent post. The issue in question revolves around a collection of images featuring current contestants kissing Joey on the show, but instead of tagging Jenn Tran initially, the show’s Instagram page tagged Lea Cayanan, a different Asian-American contestant. The mix-up caused a flurry of fired-up comments as some viewers accused the account of being racist for not being able to identify the contestants apart from one another. Cayanan has responded, saying, “I do think it’s important to extend grace. Honest mistakes do happen, and at the end of the day, we’re all human. But I think...

Yellowstone‘s future continues to be uncertain as a new report surrounding the upcoming spinoff hints at trouble behind the scenes when it comes to salary and legacy stars Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes. In a newsletter from Puck, it’s being revealed that there’s been a months-long back-and-forth over whether the trio will return for the upcoming series when Yellowstone wraps its second half of Season 5 later this year. This salary debate comes on the heels of Yellowstone lead Kevin Costner‘s dispute with showrunner Taylor Sheridan, in which he complained that script delays were impeding on the production schedule of his two-part Western epic Horizon. (Credit: Paramount Network) Ultimately, Sheridan wrote Costner out of the second half of Yellowstone‘s fifth and final season. While it’s unclear if anything has changed since then, it’s being reported that Hauser, Reilly, and Grimes are seeking...

The person behind the bombing at the church that left Alec (Jesse L. Martin) scarred may be closer to home than he would have ever expected, as he finds out in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the February 5 episode of The Irrational. He’s surprised to hear that Marisa (Maahra Hill) and Jace (Brian King) are going to meet with Senator Sanford as part of their new lead in the ongoing case. It was at the end of the last episode that Jace pitched the possibility of his involvement as something “irrational” to Marisa. Before the bombing, the best polls had Senator Sanford in a deadheat with his opponent, and at worst, he was three points down. “But after the bomb, the Black community turns out huge, and the man wins by five points,” Jace said. It’s far-fetched, but given that none of the other theories have panned out,...

Mads Mikkelsen is still looking to reprise his beloved character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter with a “Hannibal” reboot.
The Danish actor had an update for Business Insider over how, almost 10 years since the cancelation of the NBC thriller series, he and creator Bryan Fuller are still in talks to reboot the series. “Hannibal” served as an episodic prequel to “Silence of the Lambs,” with Mikkelsen portraying the cannibal serial killer originally played by Anthony Hopkins in the Oscar-winning film. “Hannibal” co-starred Hugh Dancy and was canceled in 2015 after three seasons.
“I really don’t want to go back to any of my characters, except maybe for Hannibal because he’s not over yet,” Mikkelsen said. “It’s no secret that all of us who were part of the cast and Bryan, we all want to go back. It’s got to happen eventually sooner than later because we’re not getting any younger,...

Dozens of advertisers will flock to Super Bowl Lviii this Sunday, ready to pay out a small fortune to CBS in a bid to grab some attention. But they won’t crave as much of that valuable recognition as they might have just a few years ago.
The Super Bowl has long offered Madison Avenue an arena where risk taking is welcome. In 2015, for example, Nationwide ran a commercial during Super Bowl Xlix that told a story from the viewpoint of a child who was already dead, while the portable-power company Mophie offered a spot showing God letting the Earth...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” producers and World of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato just snatched their fifth Emmy award for outstanding reality competition program and are riding high from Season 16 logging the series’ highest-rated season premiere in six years. Bailey can’t quite believe that the show is still gaining momentum.
“The more mature audience still loves it. They know they can count on falling in love with all these new artists and they can count on us as producers keeping it fresh,” Barbato says. “But young kids are discovering it. My 10-year-old kids have friends in their class who are watching it.

Roy Wood Jr. has found there is indeed life after ‘The Daily Show.’
The former correspondent for the Comedy Central program has sold a memoir, titled “The Man of Many Fathers,” to Matt Inman at Crown, by Anthony Mattero at CAA after an auction.
Wood Jr.’s memoir will examine the most important lessons to come from the unexpected father figures who stepped into Wood’s life — some unknowingly — after his own father died when he was sixteen. Some of these people are bosses and teachers. Others are co-workers who used cocaine. One is an ex-con Wood met while working construction jobs in South Carolina.

The 2024 Grammys will inspire a good deal of next-day debate among viewers. And that debate will be over: Which was the more moving comeback performance, Tracy Chapman’s or Joni Mitchell’s?
Life is good — and awards shows better than they have a right to be — when the hot post-telecast topic is which legend most tugged at our heartstrings with an unexpected return to the television spotlight. A huge reason why the 66th annual show will likely be considered the best Grammys in several years is the one-two punch of Mitchell and Chapman — the two artists the world was most...

You might say Chris Pratt has been preparing for his next role for months.
On Sunday, Pratt debuts as “Mr. P,” the ubiquitous and mustachioed mascot who has long appeared on behalf of Pringles, the potato-chips-in-a-can that are made by Kellanova. The key? A thick mustache the actor says he grew during the recent Hollywood work stoppage that got him noticed by the executives behind Pringles.
“I grew it out and shaved down the sides, and it curled up,” Pratt tells Variety in an interview. His spouse, Katharine Schwarzenegger, told him the mustache just might have legs. “That’s actually...
