The untitled series was ordered straight-to-series at Netflix in June 2021. The streamer has given the series a 10 episode order.
The official logline states, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. It’s been quite some time since the bell last rang at Abbott Elementary, but classes will soon be in session once again as teachers Janine (Quinta Brunson), Gregory (Tyler James Williams), and more return to the halls for Season 3’s long-awaited premiere on February 7. Before returning to the airwaves though, the series continued to make history at the 75th Emmys as Brunson took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Additionally, Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, and the show overall were nominated in their respective categories, making way for plenty of celebration. The event was also a celebration for Williams, who partnered with Johnnie Walker, which served as the Official Spirits Partner of the ceremony and donated earnings to the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF). Hayden Panettiere said in a recent interview with The Messenger that filming “Nashville” was “very traumatizing because I felt like I was acting out my own life.” The actor played country pop singer Juliette Barnes on the ABC musical drama, which ran for six seasons and 124 episodes between 2012 and 2018. Panettiere suggested the show’s writers often pulled from her real life while crafting Juliette’s storylines, which was emotionally traumatizing for her as storylines used her real-life struggle with alcoholism.
“Straight from the beginning, it was like, I’m dating a football player, [and then] Juliette dates a football player,” Panettiere said.

Of the dozens of people introduced in Netflix's Griselda, only one remains alive: Michael Corleone Blanco, the youngest son of notorious drug trafficker Griselda Blanco (played by Sofía Vergara). As the docudrama reveals in its finale, Griselda had her husband Darío Sepúlveda (Alberto Guerra) assassinated when he fled to Colombia with Michael, while her three eldest sons, Dixon, Uber, and Ozzy, are suspected to have been murdered by her rivals. The "cocaine godmother" faced a similar fate in 2012, when, after her release from prison, she was gunned down in Medellín by an assailant on a motorcycle — a style of killing she's often credited with bringing to the streets of Miami.

Warner Bros. Discovery probably won’t see a transformative M&a deal this year — and given negative trends in its TV and streaming businesses, Wells Fargo analysts issued a downgrade on the media conglomerate’s stock.
Wells Fargo on Monday downgraded its rating on Wbd stock from Equal Weight from Overweight and trimmed its price target from $16 to $12 per share. Shares of Warner Bros. Discovery were trading down 2.4% Monday, at about $10.36/share.
Among the factors for the downgrade: The Wells Fargo team is less favorable on the chance of a big merger or acquisition involving Warner Bros. Discovery transpiring in 2024, amid speculation of potential deals.

Happy Amazon with Ads Day!
It’s January 29, 2024, which can only mean one thing: commercials have finally come to Amazon Prime Video. Whether you realize it yet or not, unless you’ve manually opted out (to the tune of an additional $2.99 per month), you are in on Prime Video with ads. And that’s just the way Amazon likes it. Prime Video customers probably won’t like it as much; at the very least, many of them are about to be confused.

When Band of Brothers debuted on HBO — on September 9, 2001, two days before a devastating, epochal terrorist attack on American soil — the miniseries felt like the culmination of a whole era of World War II myth-making. Band of Brothers plays like a companion piece to its producer Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-winning 1998 hit Saving Private Ryan, which itself came out the same year as Tom Brokaw’s bestselling book The Greatest Generation.
All of these projects — the book, the movie, the TV show — venerated the men who fought the Nazis, while also acknowledging that their heroism came at a steep personal cost. HBO’s 2010 sequel miniseries The Pacific (released after a grueling decade in “the war on terror”) reiterated that theme, showing how violence and loss leaves an indelible stain on a soldier’s soul, even when their cause is just.

U.K. public service broadcaster Channel 4 has confirmed the 200 layoffs that were being planned earlier this month.
The broadcaster is proposing to reduce headcount by 18% – around 200 redundancies – and the closure of some 40 unfilled roles. The layoffs are amid a continuous decline in TV advertising. The cost cutting also includes moving out of Channel 4’s central London base on Horseferry Road “in the next few years.” “With 600 roles based outside of London by the end of 2025, lower headcount in London overall, and a shift to flexible working, Channel 4 will find a new fit-for-purpose office space in central London,” the broadcaster said.

While the show nor McCoy confirmed a reason for her absence, many speculated it was due to the passing of the soap star’s mother, who died in November 2023 after a battle with cancer. “My mother has fought an intense battle with cancer for the past two-and-a-half years, and has now left us physically,” McCoy wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “I’m not sure what to say other than she was, is, and will be the best thing I have ever known. Country music legend Dolly Parton has given an exciting update for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans waiting for a potential revival of the hit series. Speaking to Business Insider in a recent interview, the multi-time Grammy-winning singer confirmed producers are working on bringing the series back, noting, “They’re still working on that.” “They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it,” she said of the Joss Whedon-created series that starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even as it diverges from the original approach, the newest season of True Detective urges viewers to look back at Season 1. The anthology series returns after five years with a season that is framed as a retort to previous installments, in particular the much ballyhooed first season that starred Matthew McConaughey as Lone Star-swilling, haunted detective Rust Cohle.
True Detective: North Country (the subtitle alone angles it away from the rest of the series) sees Mexican filmmaker Issa López take over for Nick Pizzolatto, and she's cast two female detectives — chief Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and trooper Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) — and set the entire enterprise north of the Arctic circle, where for months at a time, the sun doesn't rise.

Well, damn! Nobody can say that Yellowstone doesn’t know how to keep its audience on the edge of their seats — or, for that matter, how to knock ’em right the hell off. Sunday’s Season 3 finale was one shock after another — to the point that, although I think we’d all love it if Season 4 started next week — it’ll probably take us until next summer to really recover. What happened? What didn’t! Read on, and as the smoke clears, we’ll discuss.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for True Detective: Night Country Season 4, Episode 3, “Part 3.”] True Detective: Night Country ventures further and further into the supernatural world with each passing episode, and it’s no coincidence that the ghosts from Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro’s (Kali Reis) pasts are surfacing. While the show follows their efforts to unravel a cold case, the fourth season of HBO‘s anthology is similar to past seasons in its exploration of characters’ trauma, which seems to be manifesting in spooky ways. Below, we’re breaking down all of the supernatural and paranormal happenings from Night Country so far, and breaking down what they might mean as the season continues. Travis Cohle (Credit: HBO) In Episode 2, it was confirmed that the ghost Rose Aguineau (Fiona Shaw) referred to as Travis, was the spirit of Rust Cohle’s (Matthew McConaughey) father who killed himself amid a Leukemia battle. [Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for The Way Home Season 2 Episode 2 “Hanging by a Moment.”] It’s a lot of one-step forward and two-steps back for (Chyler Leigh) and Elliot (Evan Williams) on The Way Home. They had a fantastic first kiss in Season 1, only for him to leave in the finale to figure things out after knowing so much about his future thanks to the time-traveling Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) meeting him as a teen. Then, Elliot returned at the start of Season 2, and he and Kat shared a kiss in the premiere, only for her to stop them. The next day, he deleted a text saying he should’ve kept kissing her. But in Episode 2, “Hanging by a Moment,” Elliot reveals why he really had to leave town. Things are already tense between the two when Kat calls him out on not telling her that Alice returned to the past, and Elliot, in turn, argues...

“Be prepared,” the nurse says, as she brings Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Navarro (Kali Reis) in to see the last surviving member of the Tsalal research team. “He’s hard to look at.” And she’s right. Anders Lund (Þorsteinn Bachmann), the founder and director of the base, is a ghastly sight. His amputation stitches are still fresh. The one hand he has remaining is black and blue. Burn marks cover his face, which makes his frosted blue eyes all the more unsettling.
And if you thought the convulsions were difficult to witness, just wait until he’s completely still, sitting up, passing along messages from the great beyond.
It’s hard to say “True Detective” earns this scene as much as it needs it. Episode 3 sees the investigation hitting snag after snag: Their latest lead,...

The “Oppenheimer” director said the show is “unlike anything I’ve ever seen on television before.”

Law & Order: Svu’s Episode 3 Will Be ‘Very Different’ From the Norm, Guest Star David Krumholtz Says
David Krumholtz is no stranger to the Law & Orderverse: He guest-starred in the original series and played a mushroom-obsessed murder suspect in Svu Season 12. But when he shows up Thursday in the current season’s Episode 3, he told TVLine, you should expect something a little out of the ordinary.
First off, in the same way that Kelli Giddish played a rape victim years before she became Det. Amanda Rollins, Krumholtz is portraying a completely new character. “I’m a victim this time, but I won’t give anything else away,” Krumholtz said at a recent celebration of Svu‘s 25th season.
