Integration

Sweden’s integration policy is based on both responsibilities and rights – equal rights, obligations and opportunities for all, regardless of ethnic or cultural background. The objective is achieved primarily through general measures in areas such as the labour market, education and training, public health, health and medical care, and housing. To create better conditions for the establishment of newly arrived immigrants in working life and society, targeted initiatives are also implemented in areas such as language, the labour market and education and training. Certain newly arrived immigrants also have the possibility of participating in the Swedish Public Employment Service’s introduction programme. Under Sweden’s integration policy, municipalities and regions also receive compensation for reception of refugees.
