PORTLAND PORT - First asylum seekers expected to return to Bibby Stockholm barge moored in Portland, Dorset. Home Office hopes to eventually accommodate 500 migrants aboard barge while their asylum claims are processed. When the barge berthed at Portland on July 18, the Home Office said the first 50 asylum seekers would board as part of a “structured plan” to increase capacity over the next few months. But 39 asylum seekers were evacuated after less than five days after an outbreak of legionella.

KAYSERI - Türkiye to carry out Erciyes-2023 Airborne Exercise to use airborne capabilities in other types of operations such as conventional and peace support operations. Along with Turkish Armed Forces, various elements from 9 friendly and allied countries will take part.

Fifth-place Fenerbahce Beko improved to 2-1 after beating Panathinaikos in previous round this week. Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, who lead EuroLeague with three wins, to host Italy's EA7 Emporio Armani Milan.

ISTANBUL - Interview with Neve Gordon, professor of international law and human rights at London’s Queen Mary University, on how Israel could possibly be held accountable for the potential war crimes it is committing in the ongoing conflict with Palestinians.

Israeli academic shares his views on existing international legal system and how it remains slanted in favor of stronger states.

He says International Criminal Court is unlikely to be a threat to Israel or a source of justice for Palestinians because it is “often used to defend strong state parties against weaker non-state parties.”

Gordon also gives his assessment on Israel’s excessive actions in Gaza, explaining how they could fall within or outside the ambit of war crimes.
