For years, Elsevier and its parent company RELX have disregarded the human rights impacts of accelerating fossil fuel discoveries and calls in its journals for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. Scientists, employees, and now UN investigators find those facilitating "exploration for more oil and gas" are complicit in "significantly worsened climate change-related human rights impacts." A UN-guided Grievance Mechanism can be initiated by anyone on behalf of “those potentially impacted by the business enterprise’s activities” to generate mitigation and access to remedy.
