Congratulations to our 2022 National Caregiver of the Year, Barbara Buttchen, RN, from Madison, WI! Barb dreamed of being a nurse as a child, and she has been pursuing her passion for 52 years. Currently, Barb cares for Nathaniel, a 38-year-old man with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle loss and affects many parts of the body. As a result, Nathaniel or "Than," needs total care with his activities of daily living. Barb has been able to help him manage his condition and soothe him in scary situations. Barbara also currently lives with lymphoma but keeps a positive attitude and continues to maintain her schedule and be a helping hand when needed. Perhaps this comment from Nate Carrier, Operations Manager, sums it up best, “I just think in a world where you can be anything, you should be like Barb.” Read the rest of Barb's story on our blog: https://lnkd.in/evbeciXj #MaximCOY2022

“We don’t have to meet shareholders or Wall Street. We really do get to make decisions based on what is going to be best for our patients and caregivers. This was a really great example of being able to focus on our mission, post-splitting the company, it’s just a natural next step.” Hear more from Jarrod DePriest in the new article from Home Health Care News! https://lnkd.in/dnYHbAcZ

At Maxim, we know our most valued resource is our people. That's why last month we launched an expansion of our caregiver benefits program to provide more than $10 million in added benefits. The goal of this program is to improve the overall well-being and job satisfaction of Maxim’s valued caregivers. Notable improvements include increases in paid time off, and the launch of a brand new awards program—MaxCares—offering caregivers the flexibility to tailor their rewards and encompasses cash bonuses or the option for additional paid time off. Every day, Maxim Healthcare Services’ teams work diligently to improve patients’ lives through compassionate care and quality service. Yet we recognize there is always room for growth – to better understand different experiences, foster inclusion, and leverage diverse perspectives. Three years ago, a group of female leaders saw an opportunity and formed the Women’s Affinity Group, a network committed to empowering women at all levels through support, development opportunities, and advocacy. To learn more about the goals and impact of the Women’s Affinity Group, or WAG, we sat down with Laura Riddle, Area VP of the Northeast region, and Lauren Cann, Talent Acquisition Lead. https://lnkd.in/eC5DJ3tw

One of Maxim's organizational goals is to embody a culture of mutual trust and respect, diversity & inclusion, and servant leadership. We talked to Jarett Love, Director of Financial Operations for our West Region, to learn what diversity and inclusion means to him. "So why do I love working for Maxim? The people. The one thing that I'll always tell anybody is when I first started here, I could walk down the hall into anybody's office and ask anybody a question, and all of them would help me. And I don't know if that culture expands far beyond here."

Whether you’re considering care for yourself or a loved one, deciding between home healthcare or a nursing home can seem like a difficult choice between comfort and convenience. However, for many individuals and families, home healthcare provides significant benefits over facility care that often gets overlooked. When I think about the workplace, I recognize how important it is for organizations to prioritize culture regardless of industry.
