Caution when buying zipped clothes from Disturbia by HPBitchCraft in GothStyle

[–]Malkom1366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's a shame. It really is beautiful. I like the lace lines down the sides. It creates a nice slimming line while emphasizing the hips. I can see why they added that as a detail element.

Did you end up returning both copies of it that you had? If you still have one around you could try ripping the zipper out and replacing it, if you do any sewing. I had a jacket arrive from China with a twisted sleeve lining so it was unwearable. I "returned it" and after they gave me credit for the mistake they just let me keep it. So I picked the stitch and fixed the lining myself and now it's one of my favorite jackets.

BTW your username is amazing. And was the gig one you were attending or a performance of yours?

The version of this dress that I was fortunate enough to encounter some years ago was leather, and its zipper was very strong metal. No problems with it staying on until the wearer chose otherwise. But I digress.

I think it's great that Disturbia offered credit after spotting a manufacturing error. Better than many companies do. What did you opt to do with that credit? Wait for a new batch of dresses and try the same again, or something different because it's not worth the risk?

Do you mean bands that are actively releasing albums around the time of 2020? What defines 2020-era?

Questioning my style lately, black does look good though by [deleted] in GothStyle

[–]Malkom1366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything the older generation says should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm sure she means well but increasingly the world cares less and less about how you 'present yourself' on a daily basis, and you can find your tribe to fit in with the aesthetics that appeal to you.

However, having 'nicer' clothing for things like job interviews, office jobs or just the color combo required for a restaurant or whatever is still a thing and you should maintain at least an alternative for that.

Was this offered as good faith constructive criticism or a mere condemnation of the entire style? In my experience, shallow comments about how you are dressed are based on stereotypes and don't matter at all. The question is whether dressing this way makes you feel good and represents the version of yourself you want to show to the world. I for one think you look fantastic and can't see why you would need to abandon it.

Best of both worlds, you can dress any way you want on any day you want. I'm all for being 100% goth but there are times and situations that it just works better to change it up.

Black always looks good. What about your style are you questioning?

do you have to listen to goth music to dress in goth style? by [deleted] in GothStyle

[–]Malkom1366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people, including people on here, are going to tell you that you're not goth unless you're listening to the right music. And then proceed to disagree strenuously over which bands constitute the right music. Many of the bands they list vehemently deny that they are goth in and of themselves.

So as I always tell people, goth is a big black lace parasol and lots of people and things fit under it just fine. Ignore the naysayers, enjoy music, expand your horizons over time.

I really love the smoky shadow above the visible hard line on the wing, and a good use of white to enhance your eye shape. Super well done. Black lipstick really works for you as well.

Instantly smitten. Great look.

You have to start putting carrots in the box below the morgue after you progress beyond the opening of the story. Donkey takes 5 carrots per corpse brought.

I wish Reddit allowed picture replies because I want to use that one of Pacha from Emperor's New Groove. Great outfits and I'm a little jelly. My company is corporate and I can get away with a little corpgoth on the occasion I bother to go in any more.

does anybody else find it hard to make fits when it starts to get hot out πŸ₯² by Clean-Cheetah4222 in GothStyle

[–]Malkom1366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Even though I have an abnormally high resilience to heat I've worked on ways to layer so that I can pare down to something breathable while dancing at my local club.

And that's about the best suggestion I can give. Use removable layers to give yourself a break as much as necessary. Fishnets, cuts, mesh, anything that helps airflow is your friend in the hot months.

Sure it does. Goth is a big black lacy parasol and lots of stuff fits under it.
