People often use LinkedIn to seek job opportunities and build their network. Now a LinkedIn post about a Swiggy delivery man who walked three kilometres to deliver an order managed to get a new job through the power of social media.

Earlier this month, LinkedIn user Priyanshi Chandel shared a post about Sahil Singh, a Swiggy delivery partner, who took “30 – 40 mins” to deliver her order. When he finally reached her location she found him “panting for air, sitting on the staircase outside my flat.”

When Chandel asked him what was wrong, Singh explained that he does not have any transport to make deliveries and hence had to walk. He said that he is so out of money that he could not even pay to rent an e-bike.

Singh, who has not eaten for a week, explained his plight that he would be getting only Rs 20-25 even for that particular order. “…and I’ll have to take another delivery before 12, or else they will send me for delivery somewhere far, and I don’t have a bike. I have not eaten for a week, just drinking water and tea to get by.”

He added that he has a BTech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and previously worked at Ninjacart and BYJU’S. However, he lost his job during the pandemic and had to take up food delivery gigs.

Moved by Singh’s circumstances, Chandel shared his story and asked people to share “openings for an office boy, admin work, customer support, etc”. She also shared pictures of Singh’s mark sheets, college certificates, and identity cards.
