Eight workers were injured in New Haven, Connecticut after a building where crews were pouring concrete suddenly caved in. This comes as rescuers in Davenport, Iowa are beginning a long-awaited dig for survivors at a different collapse. NBC News’ Maggie Vespa has details on both.
Workers at the site told first responders the concrete was being poured faster than they could spread it, and it pooled too much in one area and caused the collapse.
“They were going in my hair and going in my ears and in my nose, and I thought I better keep my mouth shut because those bees will be in my mouth,” the 81-year-old said.
Anadith Tanay Reyes Álvarez entered Brownsville, Texas, with her parents and two siblings on May 9. She died on May 17, her ninth day in Border Patrol custody.
