A country that has normalized kids preparing for the time when they might be shot dead like animals while they are IN school is a country so deeply unwell that I wonder what else to say about this place at this point.

In that day's Picayune, I presented 5 first person accounts of mothers grieving children who'd been murdered in New Orleans. Then there was the Mother's Day parade shooting that wounded (and eventually killed) Deb. What an awful day.

I’d forgotten this. Here’s the thing: Everyone expecting a check gets mad when it’s late. The idea that a person on welfare has no standing to be mad at a late check suggests a) she’s not human and b) she doesn’t really need it.
