The Cultural Section develops and manages various educational, cultural and exchange programs focused on issues of bilateral interest and in support of U.S. foreign policy objectives. This section promotes the exchange of ideas and expertise between U.S. and Dominican leaders and experts through programs designed to contribute to the accomplishment of important local development goals.

IIP Speaker programs
IIP provides and supports the places, content, and infrastructure needed for sustained conversations with foreign audiences to build America’s reputation abroad.
Physical and virtual places include over 700 American Spaces around the world, as well as a large social media community that numbers over 12 million followers. Content includes publications, video, and U.S. expert speakers, who engage foreign audiences both in person and through virtual programs.
Funding Opportunities
Notice of Funding Opportunities are a public announcement through which the Public Affairs Section periodically invites proposals to compete for small public diplomacy grants. The goal of these grants is to enhance relations between Dominicans and U.S. organizations and people and to allow Dominican audiences to better understand the United States, its culture, society, government, language, legal, economic and political systems, and values.
AFCP – Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation
The U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) supports the preservation of cultural sites, cultural objects, and forms of traditional cultural expression in more than 100 developing countries around the world.
AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.
Art Envoy
The Arts Envoy Program shares the best of the U.S. arts community with the world to foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration and to demonstrate shared values and aspirations. American arts professionals– including performing artists, visual artists, poets, playwrights, theatrical and film directors, curators, and others– travel overseas to conduct workshops, give performances, and mentor young people. Programs seek to connect with international publics who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with American arts professionals.
American Music Abroad
American Music Abroad artists represent the new generation of musical ambassadors; reaching beyond concert halls to interact with other musicians and citizens around the globe.
American Music Abroad activities focus on younger and underserved audiences in countries where people have few opportunities to meet American performers and experience their music first-hand. AMA bands have traveled to more than 100 countries around the world since 2011.
Opportunities for Entrepreneurs
The Embassy of the United States in the Dominican Republic is organizing the fair for entrepreneurs Emprende USA. This activity seeks to connect companies and entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic with resources from the United States government to promote entrepreneurship and access to US markets. This affirms the commitment that the Embassy of the United States has with the development and strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Dominican Republic.
