What's New

The World Factbook recently updated the World “Population” entry and its four superlative subfields based on data provided by the US Census Bureau. As of 2023, the World’s population is estimated to be 7.98 billion.  Its most populous country is China (1.41 billion), and its least populous is the Holy See (1,000).  The World’s most densely populated country is Macau (22,856.1 people per sq km) while Greenland is the World’s least densely populated (0.003 people per sq km).
