What Every American Should Know: Washington DC

Published

on

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia is also known as D.C. or Washington. It is the capital city of the United States of America, but did you know it is not owned by America?

The district is not a part of any U.S. state. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia. Yet we pay for all it’s infrastructure and commerce. Washington D.C. pays no taxes, though it is a capital city. Ironically residents of Washington D.C. lack a full self-governance. Representation in Congress is limited to a non-voting delegate to the House of Representatives and a shadow senator. It took until 1964, Washingtonians to vote in the Presidential elections. It took until 1973 for the city was allowed to elect its own mayor.

Who owns Washington DC? London, The District of Columbia and the Vatican.

DC has its own flag and own independent constitution. The Act of 1871 passed by Congress created a separate “corporation” known as THE UNITED STATES & corporate government for the District of Columbia. Thus DC acts as a Corporation through the Act. The flag of Washington’s District of Columbia has 3 red stars (the 3 stars denoting DC, Vatican City and City of London).

A look at the various treaties raises the question of whether the US remains a part of the British Crown colony. The basis of this goes back to the first Charter of Virginia, which in 1606 granted Britain the right to colonize America. It also gave the British King/Queen sovereign authority over colonized America and its citizens. Colonized America was created after stealing America from the Native Indians. If America was colonized with British subjects, then these people are subjects of the British Government.

To negate this was the Treaty of 1783 declaring independence from Great Britain. However, this Treaty identifies the King/Queen of England as the Prince of the United States. (please refer www.treatyofparis.com).

What needs to be further investigated is why US still continues to pay tax to a city, if it is a free nation?

The 1794 Treaty signed between England adds to the question why would US need to sign Treaty’s with England 13 years after the Paris Treaty of 1783 declaring US independent?

Did you know America when it cancelled the Charter of the First National Bank in 1811, 4500 British troops arrived and burnt down the White House, both Houses of Congress, the War Office, the US State Department and Treasury and destroyed the ratification records (signed by 12 US states). Why didn’t we learn this in history?

In 1913 the Federal Reserve was passed by US Congress handing over America’s gold and silver reserves and total control of America’s economy to the Rothschild’s. Don’t believe me, do some research. The Federal Reserve is a privately owned banking system that does not belong to America or Americans, but more on that later.

There is no better time to question whether the USA is a country or a corporation? Who is the US President, Congress and Senators working for the Corporation or the American people?

My View: Marilyn Maye Receives Lifetime Achievement Award and Canadian Prime Minister Sings Happy Birthday to “Legendary Ladies”

Published

on

“Direct from Carnegie Hall…..”  that oft used introduction was never more accurately applied then it was last night for Marilyn Maye as she was presented by Legends Radio at it’s Benefactors Gala Celebrating “Legendary Ladies”. 14 days ago Marilyn brought New York City to it’s feet with her debut on the stage of the storied 130 year old concert hall under the baton of Maestro Steven Reineke and The New York Pops in a spectacular concert reminiscent of the Carnegie Hall triumphs of Judy Garland.

Another Legendary Lady, Hillie Mahoney, newly appointed International Ambassador of Dick Robinson’s Society For The Preservation of the American Songbook, shared the evening with Marilyn.  Both Legendary Ladies were celebrating their birthdays-  Marilyn (95) and Hillie (90).

Missy Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of Legends Radio presented Marilyn Maye with the Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, also known for his crooning abilities led the audience in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday.

Gala Chairman and Legends Radio celebrity Bob Merrill, who also happens to be Hillie’s son, hosted the evening held at Club Collette in Palm Beach. It featured a performance by Marilyn Maye and the Society’s 2023 Young Artist Award Recipients Mikayla Smith and Alex Theodore.   The intimate Club Collette was quite a different setting than Carnegie Hall, but the excitement and thrill of a Marilyn Maye performance was the same, and the supporters of Legends Radio got a night they will long remember celebrating these two “Legendary Ladies”.

My View: The Best Did Come To The Wick Museum Club Last Night…Billy Stritch & Cy Coleman Revisited

Published

on

Billy Stritch, pianist, singer/arranger/composer/entertainer and EDUCATOR extraordinaire, gave a performance at the Wick Museum Nightclub last night that will resonate in his audience’s musical memory forever.  He recreated the genius of the late great composer Cy Coleman’s music and piano artistry with skills that few artists possess.   Having the cherished memory of attending a Cy Coleman Trio nightclub appearance many years ago I can also attest to the fact that while BIlly explained that Cy Coleman was one of the few composers that can effectively sing his own songs, Billy’s voice is way more luscious and exciting.

Billy Stritch’s Cy Coleman show should be a mandatory course for any college student majoring in music and I beg to differ with the famous Cy Coleman song title “ The Best Is Yet To Come”……The Best Did Come To The Wick Museum Club last night.

Frank Derrick on drums and Jamie Ousley on bass were perfection as were the visual created by The Wick tech team.

My View: Happening In Palm Beach……. Paul Anka, Rita Rudner, Linda Purl, and Billy Stritch

Published

on

If there was any doubt that Cafe Centro was a bona fide Cabaret Venue it was dispelled last night.  Billy Stritch was seated at the Cafe’s Grand Piano and Linda Purl was the songstress headlining on the cabaret stage of the South Florida restaurant.  The SRO crowd that had managed to snag dinner/show tickets got to hear one of the most skillful performances of the Great American Songbook and Broadway show tunes currently out there in Cabaret world.   Linda Purl, an extraordinary actor is also an extremely talented vocalist who makes you fall in love with the song and also with Linda Purl, and I might add she is oh so great to focus on through my camera lens.

Billy Stritch was the music director for this gig and he brought his creative, virtuosic, jazz infused piano playing to accompany her.  Billy was an engine of harmony and rhythm that coupled with Linda’s natural swing and romantic ballads perfectly.  The overflow crowd loved every note of the performance. Mr. Stritch usually adds his lush voice underneath his stable of super singers to create some fantastic musical symmetry, as he has done for some of show biz’s legendary entertainers (Liza Minnelli, Christine Ebersole, Linda Lavin, Linda Eder, and Marilyn Maye to name a few.) During this show he wowed us all with his keyboard artistry.  BTW,  BIlly, an extraordinary singer/ entertainer on the cabaret and concert stages worldwide can be seen at the new WICK Museum nightclub on April 1st for a special one night only engagement performing his Cy Coleman show.  Not to be missed by music lovers.

Sanford Fisher produced the Linda Purl evening. It brought these two super stars of the Cabaret and Concert stages together for an outstanding evening at Cafe Centro,  our local oasis of live music in Palm Beach.

Another great Palm Beach event this week…..the “LADY IN RED” LIFE Gala at The Breakers……Congratulations to Lois Pope, the Board of LIFE and Entertainment Chair Sunny Sessa for creating a fantastic evening……

T2C Sends Our Prayers to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lea Michele

A Statement From Andrew Lloyd Webber

I am shattered to have to announce that my beloved elder son Nick died a few hours ago in Basingstoke Hospital. His whole family is gathered together and we are all totally bereft.

Thank you for all your thoughts during this difficult time.

The 75-year-old Oscar-winning composer son Nicholas followed in his father’s footsteps and was a successful composer in his own right, having written Fat Friends The Musical. He was married to musician Polly Wiltshire, who appeared on the soundtrack of his father’s 2019 movie Cats.

During his career, Nicholas also scored music for an adaption of The Little Prince as well as composing numerous TV and film scores, including for the BBC1 drama Loves, Lies, and Records.

Nicholas previously spoke about making his own way in the theatre world away from his famous family name in a 2011 unearthed interview.

He said he wanted to be ‘judged on his own merits’ so dropped his surname when working to see what the reaction would be.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.

Also on Saturday Lea Michele updated her fans on the status of her two-year-old’s health via her Instagram  after he was hospitalized earlier this week.  Her son Ever was in the hospital, but is now out due to a ‘scary health issue. She posted a picture backstage in her dressing room ahead of her Broadway performance in Funny Girl. Lea had been out to focus on her family.

“I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for just so much love and support this week. I really really appreciated it”.

My View: It’s Today! It’s Tonight! Marilyn Maye Rehearses For Her New York Pops Carnegie Hall Debut

Published

on

Sometimes you have to pinch yourself at the opportunities you are presented with.  TODAY would be one of those.  Or as Marilyn Maye might sing to you, “It’s Today.”

This afternoon I had the privilege of witnessing the 95 year old star, rehearsing on the stage of Carnegie Hall, under the baton of Maestro Steven Reineke, in front of the mighty New York Pops Orchestra.  It all happens tonight and has been a lifetime in the making.  As if The New York Times piece, bylined by Melissa Errico, wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for what is sure to be a historic evening, maybe these photos will help get you even more excited.  Thank you to all who made this happen for me, to present to you….Humbly Yours, Stephen
