Commissioner Diane Rosenbaum

Commissioner Diane Rosenbaum joins the Multnomah County Commission, capping a long career in public service. Most notably, Commissioner Rosenbaum served 18 years in the Oregon Legislature, 10 years in the House of Representatives and eight years in the Senate. 

During that time she served in numerous leadership positions, including Senate Majority Leader, House Speaker Pro Tempore, Democratic Whip and chaired multiple committees. In the Senate, she served as Chair of the Rules and Executive Appointments Committee for six years, presiding over hundreds of confirmation hearings for the Governor’s appointments of agency heads, board and commissions.

Prior to her legislative service, Commissioner Rosenbaum served as Chair of the Oregon Commission for Women, Vice-Chair of the Oregon Hunger Task Force, and Board Member of the Oregon AFL-CIO and Northwest Oregon Labor Council. Since leaving the Legislature, she has served on numerous nonprofit boards including the Oregon Humane Society, United Way and Labor’s Community Services.

Commissioner Rosenbaum’s priorities have included work to alleviate poverty and hunger, women’s healthcare and equal rights, and revenue reform. She intends to build on those commitments in her work with the Board of Commissioners. 

Commissioner Rosenbaum attended Reed College in Southeast Portland. She lives in the Richmond neighborhood with her husband Jas Adams, and their cairn terrier, Seabiscuit, and rescue cat, Tosca.
