The STAT brand includes a website (www.statnews.com), mobile app, numerous newsletters, live events and virtual events, and other products. STAT is based in Boston and is affiliated with Boston Globe Media Partners but is independent from The Boston Globe.

The Role

  • STAT’s business team is growing and we’re seeking a deliberate, analytical, and collaborative Associate Product Marketing Manager (APMM) to join our team. Reporting to STAT’s Marketing Manager, this newly created position will help develop the positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies for STAT’s products, including e-books, reports, newsletters, podcasts, and more. The STAT office is located in downtown Boston. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
  • This role will ask the APMM to think deeply about promotion strategy for STAT’s growing suite of products, while channeling the voice of the customer by highlighting new features as they arise. This individual will be comfortable devising and managing iterative tests and is fluent in marketing best practices. They will need to be able to transition easily between many projects, while constantly focusing on internal and external goals. The role requires strong strategic and tactical viewpoints, leadership skills, product vision, and endless curiosity. The ideal candidate is excited about creating digital product marketing experiences that are as excellent as our journalism and delivering them to audiences we want to turn into long-term readers and subscribers of STAT.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and project manage deliverables, launch, and ongoing marketing of STAT products, including e-books, STAT Reports, editorial products (newsletters, podcasts, investigations), and Community initiatives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to discover and define audience goals, customer value propositions, use cases, and marketing campaign messaging for each product.
  • Build and deploy high impact marketing campaigns to drive awareness, downloads, opt-ins, and sales of STAT products.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, each with varying priority, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Drive iterative experimentation, analyze results, and change course based on learnings.
  • Identify and monitor key performance metrics, manage internal tracking, clearly communicate what the numbers represent, and provide insight to drive promotion strategies.
  • Collect competitive intelligence and develop strategies for competitive differentiation.
  • Prioritize initiatives and clearly articulate why they are important to larger company goals.
  • Build strong, cross-departmental collaborative relationships with sales, marketing solutions, design, and product teams to engage stakeholders in the goal setting process.
  • Partner with various teams to ensure documentation, supporting materials, and project plans are updated and readily available for internal teams, senior leaders as well as external partners/stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • BA/BS degree in marketing, business, advertising or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing campaign creation, tracking, testing, and analytics
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to converse with business, editorial, and technical teams, along with senior management
  • Highly self-motivated and effective time management skills
  • Willing to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment 

Bonus points if you

  • Have experience in Hubspot, Adobe Analytics, or similar ESPs and analytics systems
  • Are interested in or have experience in the world of health, medicine, and life sciences.
  • Are interested in or have experience in digital media or subscription businesses.

Compensation/Location

The minimum salary for this position is $50,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401k plan, generous vacation, parental leave, and more. The STAT office is located in downtown Boston, nearby Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. We have colleagues in the organization that come into the office on a regular basis. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
