The Last of Us (2023)
One of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen.
The pilot episode is one of the best pilots I've ever seen even surpassing that of the Walking Dead. The introduction gave clarity and showed the individual struggles people had to cope with. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they build the characters and how they develop the relationships and attempt to match that of the game.
Zombie TV shows and films have been done millions of times before and often lack creativity but this so far has a breath of fresh air and if like the games concentrates on human emotion and connection then I think it'll do incredibly well and I can't wait to watch the rest of the series.
Ambulance (2022)
Action packed but littered with plot holes.
The action is intense and suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. The bond between the characters and the character building seems very half baked and rushed which is a shame as it's something that would of massively improved the film.
Overall most of the characters are good but there's a few scattered around that just overall feel annoying and the attempt at them coming across as funny has the opposite effect. The female police officer is unbearable and just comes across as hateful for example.
Definitely worth a watch however expect alot of plot holes. Like how they some how have three ambulances even though they never planned on taking one in the first place.
Halloween (2018)
Awfully written and utter snoozefest.
The acting in this is awful and it's honestly one of the most cheesy horror films I've ever seen but not at all in a good way! Everything is predictable, there's no surprises or suspense and the acting is on par with a GCSE level production.
Michael Myers himself couldn't even rescue this utter train wreck and was the only redeeming aspect of the whole film. It also seems like mild political aspects have been scattered around the film in the weak attempt that noone would notice.
It seems any attempts to bring beloved horror franchises into modern cinemas has failed as seen by the new scream film which was utterly dreadful. Nearly as bad as this!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Utter stain on the Lord of the Rings name
Terrible writing, plot holes everywhere, terrible acting and extremely unlikeable characters.
In Lord of the Rings, Elves are probably the coolest race but in this fall well below par! Elves wouldn't be able to disguise themselves as humans, do matrix style dodges or zone into conversations from miles away like in this farce of a TV Series. The Elves just seem like humans with pointy ears and the main three Elf main characters are completely unlikeable! Are we meant to like them just because they have a significance in The films or in the popular Shadow of War game!
House of Dragons is miles better and much more worthwhile watching.
Ted Lasso: Carol of the Bells (2021)
Looks like it's downhill from here.
Ted Lasso and football is almost secondary at this point. Instead of it being a comedy about a football and manager in a tough almost impossible situation. It's a woke, unfunny sitcom.
They called Christmas "Colonisation" and there was a black girl at a door shouting to her mum "There's two white people at the door" it's a poor, woke attempt at comedy. It's neither cleverly written or remotely funny at this point! Anyone who rates this a 10/10 clearly has the attention span of a goldfish.
Ted Lasso: Do the Right-est Thing (2021)
Boring and badly written.
What made Ted Lasso so great was the focus on a manager who knew nothing about football and had an absolute impossible challenge to keep them in the league. This season they've steered away from Ted and focused on boring characters with the personality of a lamppost. What started off as a comedy about football now seems to be a boring attempt at a sitcom. This episode also seemed very political and over the top!
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Let down by bad acting
The plot and story line are pretty interesting. I do however struggle to see whether this is a family series as often it gets fairly dark. There's alot of holes in the storyline however! No indication of how people survived. Where people get electricity from or even how they power the steam locomotive.
By far the worst part of this series is the main actor. He's just not believable in his acting and let's the whole series down in my opinion. He was bought up by his dad to survive on his own in the wild but seems like the kinda kid to stick a fork in the toaster or to jump out a window and pretend he can fly.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The opening to an amazing trilogy
In 2021, the UHD, HDR version still looks as amazing as ever. Such a great entry to my all time favourite trilogy. The lore and the story run so deep that even after all 6 films if you include the hobbit, it still leaves you wanting more.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
My second favourite film, my first being the Return of the King.
Still in 2021 it looks amazing. I know the battle of Helms Deep strays away from the book but honestly it makes it alot more tense and the cinematography is amazing. I wish it went into the lore of the humans fighting for evil and the ents a little more but overall if you love fantasy lore then this film is definitely for you!
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
After all these years it's still just as amazing as I remember it.
In 4K UHD it looks amazing. It may leave some stuff out from the books but if you love Lord of the Rings lore you can't help but love these films.
Us (2019)
Terrible
The acting is beyond awful and the voice the main actor plays for the villian is hilarious. The plot and story don't make sense! How could you go from sweet innocent family to mass murderers and killing without even a though in just one night! There's no character development or progression and it's just stupid.
Deadly Illusions (2021)
This is why Netflix needs a rating system
Terrible, dull film! The acting is laughably bad. The writing and story at times just don't make sense and it clearly tries to be gone girl but falls at every hurdle along the way.
She runs off from the police station and we just have to believe that her phone wouldn't be traced, her husband wouldn't be looking for her or that the police wouldn't think to keep a patrol car outside her house! She didn't even seem to think once about her children either which was ridiculous.
The Lost Pirate Kingdom (2021)
Politically correct rubbish!
The narration was by far the best thing about this series but unfortunately that wasn't enough to rescue this fire ship destined to the pits of Netflix obscurity.
The CGI and acting is hilariously bad. The "experts" often spread misinformation. Feelings over facts, I guess!
Avoid this series like the plague. If you want a good historical naval film then I would recommend watching - Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
