BBC Studios Productions

World-class stories, made with the BBC’s gold standards of quality and creativity

We make, fund, sell, invest in and export the very best stories to audiences around the world.

Award-winning quality and range

Around 2,500 hours of content is created every year in our production studio with bases around the world. We are the most awarded – and most commissioned – producer in the UK. Led by Ralph Lee, BBC Studios Productions makes programmes across a huge range of genres and specialisms, including premium factual, entertainment, drama, comedy and major events.

For the BBC, shows include Frozen Planet II, Happy Valley and Time, alongside long-running series favourites like Strictly Come Dancing, EastEnders, Countryfile, The One Show, and Silent Witness. For the wider market, we’ve made hits like Prehistoric Planet and Trying for Apple TV+; The Surgeon’s Cut, Murder Among The Mormons and The Anthrax Attacks for Netflix; Good Omens for Amazon; and Dancing With The Stars for Disney+.

Our international production bases make shows for major local networks and streaming platforms, while we have established long-term partnerships with blue-chip media companies to make and fund premium programming enjoyed by audiences at home and internationally.

Our production labels

Alongside our production units, we partner with the best British independent companies, taking both minority and majority equity stakes to support the growth of creative talent. Seven world-class labels are majority or fully owned: Lookout Point, Baby Cow, House, Clerkenwell, Sid Gentle, Firebird Pictures and VoltageTV. We have minority investments in a further eight talented small businesses: Moonage, Various Artists Limited, Expectation Entertainment, Boffola Pictures (a Lookout Point investment), Mothership Productions and most recently Turbine Studios.

Titles from these labels include Killing Eve (Sid Gentle), Happy Valley (Lookout Point), The End of the F**ing World (Clerkenwell Films), Wahala (Firebird Pictures), Daisy May Cooper’s The Witchfinder (Baby Cow) and Sherwood (House Productions).
