Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh

Not ending before 8 December 2021 10:08 UTC
  • About me: Hi. Recently I've been interested in crosswiki patrolling using SWViewer. See my crossactivity here and, if you have editcountitis, my SUL here. I am obsessed with and using a lot of Javascript tools (despite knowing hardly nothing about JS), but they can't completely replace rollback, especially when I need to mass-revert some vandal's edits. Therefore, I request for GR permissions.
  • Language: Vietnamese is my first language. I'm quite good at reading English, but not really confident in speaking/writing. I can also read basic (Classical) Chinese (Hán tự/Hànzì/Kanji/Hanja). In short: vi, en-4 (reading), en-2.5 (speaking/writing), zh/lzh-0.5 (reading).

Regards, NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 10:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh well and they're a well trusted user. However, the large number of rights requested on Commons recently gave both Davey2010 and myself the concern of hatcollecting. In this case, I'm sure NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh doesn't have that intent, but I'd like to hear the opinion of others before voting. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 10:55, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • My thoughts are the same as SHBs - Having looked at their contribs they've made reverts to different projects but I feel like they've only made those reverts for the sake of coming here, Again I also have a strong sense of HATCOLLECTING here however Given I don't know the user and don't edit here it would be unfair to immediately Oppose so wanted to see what others thought before !voting, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:39, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have checked some edits in bnwiki, although revert's looking good to me except this. I putup my opinion as GA candidate.svg Weak support based on too low crosswiki activity and concerns about hatcollecting -- MdsShakil (talk) 17:45, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • First of all, I came across crosswiki actions, done by NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh quite often recently and my overall impression was good but, as always, I try to check some crosswiki actions in languages, I can understand and I have some concerns. First of all user got a warning from admin in slwiki for reverting good faith edits. Secondly, I found this, this and this edits that surely were not vandalism of some sort. Also I see that there was some confusion in this page in bgwiki, which is understandable, because you have no command of Slavic languages, but what's a point of patrolling them then? Based on everything above that's BA candidate.svg Weak oppose from me, because generally I see good potential but NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh needs to gain more experience and make conclusions.--Renvoy (talk) 09:16, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • BA candidate.svg Weak oppose per Renvoy, I think NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh needs a little more experience.--Ferien (talk) 19:37, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • BA candidate.svg Weak oppose The above opinions are in line with my apprehension about this status on WD already in October. The more recent post on slWP does not change my opinion. You might read vi:Wikipedia:Lùi_sửa#Khi_nào_dùng? Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 10:58, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • About me: I started a cross-wiki review of climate disinformation and misinformation. We try to delete blatant misinformation and work together with the local communities / native speakers to improve less problematic text. Unsurprisingly, some climate change articles are semi-protected. I was wondering if I could get the global rollback right, as it includes autoconfirmed. I'm willing to promise that I will not use the rollback function. I think this project can be done in three months, so happy to have this right only for a limited time. Thanks

@Yahya: This request was made to circumvent local autoconfirmed restrictions by using the autopatrol autoconfirmed user right, as such, this has nothing to do with cross-wiki activity. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:00, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • This appears to be outside the scope of the global rollback permission. Optimally you should obtain autoconfirmed through local processes, usually just being registered for a few days. It is also generally a bad idea to edit content in an unfamiliar language, and I would recommend you prioritize working with local editors and native speakers over making removals yourself. Best, Vermont (talk) 21:36, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Symbol oppose vote oversat.svg Strong oppose Oppose Oppose Not only, as rightfully said by Vermont, this is "outside the scope of the global rollback permission" but even if you gain GR permission it does not guarantee you autopatrol rights in every and each wiki, because many of them do not use autopatrol, but autoreview feature instead. So, for example, after obtaining global rollback flag you still would not be autopatrolled in Hungarian, Belorussian, Bosnian, Arabic, Hindi and Farsi wikis (based on your list).--Renvoy (talk) 10:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This is requesting the ability to edit semi-protected pages, which is truly granted everywhere by being a global rollbacker, not the ability to have one's edits escape review. * Pppery * it has begun 15:33, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I understand what you are doing but I think it would be better to try and get the articles unprotected or have tool use audited rather than going about it this way. --Rschen7754 19:30, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by 'tool use audited'? Femkemilene (talk) 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the protection was inappropriate, bring it up with that administrator, and if the resolution is unsatisfactory, pursue further processes (i.e. community review/desysop). --Rschen7754 01:03, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not the right tool for this, I will suggest per Stang to use Krinkle SUL. Most of the wikis just need 4 days to be autoconfirmed so this tool can help in most case. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:03, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for global IP block exemption

Global IP block exemption for Guxiangli Tongguan

Hello everybody. I am a Chinese student living in Australia. I haven't been able to edit lately because of many blocked IP blocks. Therefore, I would like everyone to exempt me from IP. I need to always mask my IP address for reasons of my personal security and privacy. However, I am unable to make contributions to Wikimedia projects when I am logged in and accessing the Internet via an IP that happens to be blocked. I would greatly appreciate it if I were granted an exemption, so that I may continue to contribute to Wikimedia projects. I do not have any other account on Wikimedia projects. Thanks--Guxiangli Tongguan (talk) 03:29, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Guxiangli Tongguan[reply]

Why do you need to mask your IP addresses if you live in Australia? Ruslik (talk) 20:23, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-steward comment) It is worthwhile noting that a lot of ranges in Australia, mostly IPv6, are rangeblocked in some places due to sockmasters and disruptive editors on those ranges. JavaHurricane 03:21, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello guys. I am currently living in China's mainland, so I have to access Wikipedia via a VPN. I am a great fan of Formula one, which does not have the elaborate simplified Chinese translation. So, I hope I can make some contributions to that part. I hope I can get exempted by you guys. As I am currently living in China, my IP has to be concealed to visit the wiki. Hope you guys can understand, thanks, --Masterchief006

Global IP block exempt for KiranBOT

Hello. The request is for my alternate account, KiranBOT. I have IPBE on enwiki, as there seem to be some issue with Auto Wiki Browser. Also, a lot of the times, I have to use VPN because of office related policy even though I work from home. I do not want global IPBE, I want to edit only mrwiki from the KiranBOT account. I am not sure if admins at mrwiki can grant me IPBE, so I am putting my request here. I am okay with a CU check. mr:user:KiranBOT. Regards, —usernamekiran(talk) 10:18, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Usernamekiran, any administrator at any project can give out IPBEs at their local project. From your request, it appears you don't actually need a global IPBE -- would you mind asking a mrwiki admin instead? Thanks! Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:04, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Due to China's control, I can't use Wikipedia properly and have to use a proxy server for editing. I have already asked for local exemption and exemption in META-WIKI, but I still can't do some work like editing interlanguage links. Hello, Base but my situation here is that I am able to edit on zh-wikipedia, which you can see in my account, so I don't need a local IPBE right in Mandrain Wikipedia maybe? The reason I request Global IP block exemption is that I want to edit other wikipedia project like en-wikpedia, de-wikipedia, wikidictionary and etc. And what confuses me is that someone globally block my IP when I was log out yesterday so as to I can only log in the account I have signed in, is it because of me? Global IP block exempt for 南冥大鹏

Hello! Dear Stewards. I'm 南冥大鹏, you can also call me Cheng. I'm a Chinese user, currently working as a patroller on Zn-Wikipedia, and I also would like to contribute my strength in Wiki Commons or other communities, so my range of activities is gradually getting bigger ~ Although I have lived in the United States for a long time, I return to China for a period of time almost every year. In order to continue working at Wiki, I use VPN to bypass the firewall of China, this requires the help by IPBE, so I have obtained the IPBE on Zn-Wikipedia. I will go to China for a while next month, and I realized that our local IPBE only applies to Zn-Wikipedia, but I don't want to give up Wiki Commons﹑Wikisource or other communities when I stay in China, so I want to further apply for a Global IPBE. This will help me keep myself as active as possible in China, especially when I plan to share and annotate some resources. I have fully understood the relevant safety instructions of IPBE and hope to gain your trust. Thank you!

Removing global IP block exempt for Poya-P

Serious allegations have been raised about User:Poya-P and User:SalmanZ being the same. Allegations are based on editing patterns (linguistic habits as well as topic interests), and were made amidst the RfA for SalmanZ on fawiki. The GIPBE flag makes it impossible to run successful CU on Poya-P. Because GIPBE currently does not support projects to opt out and a proposal for more strict GIPBE guidelines has not gone anywhere, the only option remaining is for me to ask the GIPBE flag to be removed. The user is essentially only active on fawiki and enwiki and already has local IPBE on enwiki so the GIPBE is essentially being misused here and lets him bypass the local control of fawiki community on his IPBE access. Please remove the global flag and direct user to the local communities. I can provide further (private) details via email if needed. Huji (talk) 15:54, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Considering they have been very inactive up until now and on 30 Dec they still haven't met the 100 edits minimum and when they were a steward they only made 12 renames, I think it is reasonable to assume they wouldn't use the global rename rights often. Requests for other global permissions

Global confirmed for Femkemilene

I started a cross-wiki review of climate disinformation and misinformation. We try to delete blatant misinformation and work together with the local communities / native speakers to improve less problematic text. Unsurprisingly, some climate change articles are semi-protected. I was wondering if I could be globally confirmed. Thanks, --Femkemilene (talk) 08:09, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We don't have a global userright for this, and to go and set it on all wikis would be an undertaking and a half. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 12:27, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I feared as much. I don't do much anti-vandel work, but I was wondering if I could invoke IAR, and request the global rollback right, which includes autoconfirmed? I'll ask in appropriate section. Femkemilene (talk) 15:57, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In the majority of our projects you will only need to create an account and wait for four days. Ruslik (talk) 20:48, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse filter helpers for Vikipolimer

Hi all, I'm planning to develop abuse filters and adapt them to local wikis., thanks, --𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 11:38, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Vikipolimer, Abuse filter helper permission is not needed to develop abuse filters (local permissions on the wiki is). I don't understand why do you need access private filters at all wikis? Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:04, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Martin Urbanec We can sometimes encounter cross-spam or vandalism on the local wiki, in this case, we overcome this with new filters, if I have a global reach, I can help technically both in the local wiki and where it is needed globally. 𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 14:18, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Vikipolimer Abuse filter helper is a read-only permission. It does not let you to edit any filters. For that reason, I'm still unable to understand your need for access. Oppose Oppose until need can be shown. Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:29, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Martin Urbanec I'm planning to get some good private filters from wikis and adapt to Turkish Wikipedia. 𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 15:20, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CAPTCHA exemptions for Владимир Меланхолин

I am correcting links that contain the "Duplicate https:// xN" problem in some language sections (Russian, English, etc). I started to expand the area of activity, but since I mainly work from the phone, it is extremely inconvenient to constantly enter a captcha.
