Three boys were killed in the Glen of Imaal, Wicklow, in April 1979 when they stumbled upon an unexploded shell from the Army’s artillery firing range. Later that year, a group of schoolboys from St Michael’s College in Dublin went on a weekend hiking trip to Wicklow, staying in the youth hostel in the glen.
