Caoimhe Grant, who got her start in fashion working with John and Simone Rocha, is the owner and designer of the bag and accessory line August Night. The brand’s signature is the bow. “It’s always been a motif that I’ve loved,” Grant says. “The duality of masculine and feminine; that great memory of being a little girl and putting bows in your hair, or a man putting on a bow tie.”

I first came across fashion influencer Ruth Walsh, otherwise known as @ruthyruby, on Instagram. Walsh has an eclectic yet refined style. Her romantic Instagram feed is perfect for those in need of outfit inspiration as well as travel content. Morals and postcodes are the 28-year-old’s biggest fashion influences. She grew up in Cork before moving to New York and then Amsterdam. “I love moving to different places, immersing myself in different cultures. Once I feel inspired, I feel so empowered.”

Like a concert pianist, Mariam Dudashvili takes a deep breath, fans her fingers out in front and presses her foot on the pedal below. But instead of the classical music she learned as a child in her homeland of Georgia, it’s a repetitive sound that fills the room as she skilfully feeds the fabric in under the fast-moving steel needle of her Juki industrial sewing machine. “I love that whirring sound,” Dudashvili tells me with an infectious smile, as she finishes off yet another apron in the We Make Good textiles studio on Dublin’s Mountjoy Square.

Style notes: Limerick designs turn heads at Paris Fashion Week, and an iconic Dior exhibition

The Bar Hemingway at the Ritz was buzzing with Paris Fashion Week glamazons when Limerick designer Aoife McNamara arrived in fresh from her catwalk showcase at the hotel and instantly turned heads. All eyes darted to the blonde girl wearing the gleaming white silk dress with square neck and delicate pink velvet straps, and as she turned, they glimpsed the oversized bow and tie in a glistening tweed with flecks of metallic threads.

If you are a flapper at heart and a fan of clothes from the 1920s and 1930s, then you are in for a real treat. An Art Deco fashion exhibition, Anything Goes! Fashions of the 1920s, opens in the Ulster Museum in Belfast on October 7 with 20 outfits from the museum’s fashion collection on display, as well as shoes and accessories like cloche hats and T-bar shoes.
