In 22w43a, Mojang has made a heavily requested change by us to the internal code. Both Sodium and Iris will be slightly rewritten to utilize this new change. (Change in question is JOML)

Breaking change in Vanilla 22w42a: to increase load time performance, all textures must be in their respective folders. You cannot use custom folders anymore. (textures/item and textures/block for the block atlas, as an example)

Status update on 22w42a snapshot:
PBR has been fixed, large portions have been rewritten to work with the new system.
Mods like Continuity to deal with connected textures are still completely broken.

Don't try PBR though... it doesn't work.
