Happy campers? More like dying campers.

Just in time for Halloween, Peacock has announced that it has gone straight to series on Crystal Lake, a prequel drama based on the hit horror movie franchise, Friday the 13th.

Bryan Fuller, the prolific television creator behind such shows as American Gods and Star Trek: Discovery, will write, showrun and executive produce the series, which will be produced by A24, the studio known for buzzy movies such as Everything Everywhere All at Once and this year’s horror one-two punch, X and Pearl.

Friday the 13th is the horror franchise that launched in 1980 and gave the world Jason Voorhees, the hockey-masked slasher who mostly kills in and around the verdant and idyllic grounds of Camp Crystal Lake (except for the rare jaunt to New York or outer space).

The movies birthed a TV series once before,

‘Black Adam’ Muscles Up To 250M Global Through Sophomore Frame; ‘Smile’ Nearing 200M WW – International Box Office
Refresh for latest…: Warner Bros/New Line DC’s Black Adam in its second offshore frame saw a strong hold, down just 45. It added 39M from 76 offshore markets to take the running international box office total to 139M for a global cume through Sunday of 250M.

While superhero movies are typically frontloaded, there were a number of Black Adam markets that saw only slight drops — school holidays helped in parts of Europe. Among the standouts are France (-19), Netherlands (-25), Germany (-27) and the UK (-38).

The Dwayne Johnson-starrer continued to rank No. 1 in 60 overseas markets including France, Germany, Spain, UK, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico. In IMAX, it added 2.3M in its overseas haul this session for an offshore cume of 8.2M and 18M global in the format.

In like-for-like markets and using today’s exchange rates, the film is tracking 42 ahead of Shazam!

Tom Hanks Resurrects David Pumpkins in Halloween ‘SNL’ Appearance

Tom Hanks Resurrects David Pumpkins in Halloween ‘SNL’ Appearance
Tom Hanks made yet another return to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, suiting up as David Pumpkins in what is rapidly becoming a Halloween tradition for the long-running sketch show.

Per usual, the sketch followed a group of horror enthusiasts on a haunted-house style carnival ride that shows them different horror villains in each room. Classic film characters like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Pennywise the Clown all showed up in the sketch. But the ride quickly becomes saturated with appearances by David Pumpkins, a man in a pumpkin-patterned suit (who is apparently from Ibiza) and two dancing skeletons. Rather than try to scare the guests, he dances before cryptically asking if they have “any questions?” This time, Jack Harlow was on the ride. The rapper (and star of the upcoming “White Men Can’t Jump” remake) handled “SNL” hosting duties this week, and played a rider who actually enjoyed David Pumpkins.

But gifting a foodie can be intimidating. You don’t want to give them a kitchen tool they already have or guess at a luxury treat that winds up not being to their taste. You can always play it safe with a gift card to their favorite cookware brand or fancy restaurant, but an actual hand-selected pick always goes

How John Ford Westerns Inspired ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ Cinematography

How John Ford Westerns Inspired ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ Cinematography
When “Banshees of Inisherin” cinematographer Ben Davis received the film’s script, his reaction was that while there were many interpretations to be had, it was the conflict that spoke to him. “Particularly men in conflict and how most wars are created and caused by men, and maybe they could have sorted that out, and they didn’t need to do that,” says Davis.

The Martin McDonagh helmed film stars Colin Farrell as Padraic and Brendan Gleeson as Colm. The two have been friends for years, but when Pádraic goes to call on Colm for their usual afternoon walk to the pub, Colm pretends he doesn’t see or hear him. When Colm finally makes his way to the bar, he tells Pádraic that he doesn’t like him anymore, and simply doesn’t want to be his friend anymore.

For Davis, the key to framing the story was distance.

Producer Jon Peters will receive 185,000 as part of a settlement that resolves his lawsuit over what he alleges was an agribusiness Ponzi scheme.

Peters, whose credits include Superman Returns, Batman, A Star is Born and Caddyshack, in February 2021 sued Holli Gallun and Management 180. He alleged in his complaint that in 2019 and 2020 Gallun, who he’d known for more than 15 years, offered him “two unique agribusiness investments that produced risk-free returns, at higher rates than are available to the general investing public.” Peters wired her 450,000 and claimed that repayments became sporadic and then stopped altogether. When he asked for his money back, according to the complaint, she said the “funds were ‘already spent’ and ‘just sue me.'”

He did, and after about a year and a half of litigation the parties have settled. Peters in August had sought a default judgment of nearly 1 million against Gallun,

Marvel Movies in Order: How to Watch All MCU Movies Chronologically

Marvel Movies in Order: How to Watch All MCU Movies Chronologically
It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Twenty-five films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

There are a couple of different ways to watch the MCU movies, but below we run down how to watch the Marvel films in chronological order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels set in the 1990s and 1940s,

Imax Quarterly Losses Widen, but Company Predicts ‘Avatar 2,’ ‘Black Panther 2’ Will End 2022 on High Note
Imax is one of the exhibition companies that’s eager to return to Pandora and Wakanda. That’s the hopeful message being sounded after a lack of splashy new blockbusters and a faltering last-summer box office took a chunk out of Imax’s profits, leaving the company to tout the impending arrival of two upcoming releases.

“The blockbuster slate is reigniting with two of the most highly anticipated releases in years — ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ — leading into a strong blockbuster slate in 2023,” Imax CEO Richard Gelfond said on an earnings call.

But there’s still a few weeks to go before those films hit theaters. During its most recent quarter, Imax saw its quarterly losses widen to 9 million from 8.4 million in the prior-year period on the paucity of compelling content. However, things are still better than the worst of the Covid era. Revenue increased

The box office is lousy, inflation is up and with a recession looming, economic prospects look poor. But judging by the breadth and depth of offerings at this year’s American Film Market, the indie movie business is still in rude health. Strong sales in Cannes and decent business in Toronto are giving producers and sales companies hope that AFM 2022 could be the post-pandemic restart that the industry desperately needs.

Global buyers descending on Santa Monica this week certainly won’t be lacking for choice, with a selection of projects big and small, mainstream and niche, to entice them to pull out their checkbooks.

Former Actor Alleges Harvey Weinstein Assaulted Her at TIFF and Told Her: ‘My Wife Loves This. You’re Going to Love This’

Former Actor Alleges Harvey Weinstein Assaulted Her at TIFF and Told Her: ‘My Wife Loves This. You’re Going to Love This’
A former actor cried on the stand when testifying that Harvey Weinstein assaulted her two times, decades apart, during the Toronto International Film Festival.

The woman — identified by the court as “Kelly S.,” in order to protect her identity — went into graphic detail alleging Weinstein forced oral sex on her in 1991 and masturbated in front of her in 2008. Both alleged assaults occurred at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto.

“You’re going to love this. … It’s okay … it won’t be long,” Kelly S. remembered Weinstein saying when he allegedly assaulted her for the first time. She told the jury that she repeatedly asked him to stop. She recalls him saying, “I’m going to fuck you. It won’t take long. Just relax.”

Kelly S. is an uncharged witness, meaning the 11 charges Weinstein faces do not stem from her allegations. The jury will not deliberate on the assaults Kelly S.

Why ‘My Policeman’ Star Emma Corrin Was ‘Scared S—less’ of First Time Working With Harry Styles

Why ‘My Policeman’ Star Emma Corrin Was ‘Scared S—less’ of First Time Working With Harry Styles
Emma Corrin and David Dawson share some intimate moments with Harry Styles in “My Policeman.” To build that chemistry between the actors, director Michael Grandage introduced the three of them through a more musical approach.

In one scene in the movie, Corrin, Dawson and Styles get drunk at a bar and sing a song. “The first time the three of us got together, we were thrown into a sound booth,” Dawson recalled. “We got around the piano and we had to sing for each other, and that was a really clever way of breaking the ice.”

“Like a recording studio,” Corrin added. “Which is Harry’s natural habitat, but we both were scared shitless.”

Corrin, Dawson and Linus Roache sat down for a post-screening Q&a on Friday at New York City’s Ipic Theater.

Set in 1957 Brighton, “My Policeman” follows a complicated love triangle between closeted policeman Tom Burgess

Imax Revenue Grows But Posts Overall Loss In Third-Quarter

Imax Revenue Grows But Posts Overall Loss In Third-Quarter
Click here to read the full article.

Imax kept up its pandemic-era box office recovery in the third quarter, despite a lull in the Hollywood movie pipeline.

Overall revenue at the giant screen exhibitor came to 68.8 million, up 21 percent from a year-earlier 56.6 million, as Imax was impacted by partial Covid-related theater shutdowns in China. And Imax recorded a loss of 9 million, which widened a year-earlier loss of 8.4 million.

During the latest quarter, Imax recorded a 4.3 million valuation allowance against its deferred tax assets, and 1 million in acquisition-related expenses. The adjusted net loss per share in Q3 came to 3 cents, which compared to a 7 cents loss per-share in Q2 owing to a film investment writedown, and was better than a per-share loss of 5 cents a year ago.

Global box office at Imax during the latest quarter hit 177.1 million, up 25 percent from 141.9 million last year. Around 30 percent of the global box office

An extra-inning contest to open the World Series helped Fox draw its biggest game one audience in three years.

The network averaged 11.48 million viewers for its broadcast of the Philadelphia Phillies’ 6-5, 10-inning victory over the Houston Astros on Friday. That’s up 6 percent over last year’s first game (10.81 million) and the best for a World Series opener since 12.19 million watched game one of the 2019 series. Fox also got a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 for the game, up about 15 percent year to year.

On the flip side, Friday’s telecast is still the third-lowest opening game on record for the World Series, ahead of only the previous two years. (The 2020 series, played after a pandemic-shortened season, holds the all-time low for average viewers across the full series and for each of its six individual games.)

Elsewhere Friday, CBS’ Fire Country continued its

Weinstein Accuser Says She Went to Harvey’s Room to Confront Him About ’91 Rape, and He Assaulted Her Again
Another Jane Doe took the stand in the criminal rape trial of Harvey Weinstein on Monday, opening a second week of accusers’ testimony by telling the jury she went up to Weinstein’s room in 2008 to confront him about a 1991 sexual assault – and that 17 years later, he did it again, this time while her husband and children were waiting downstairs.

The witness, dressed in black pants and a patterned blue shirt with long blond hair, told the jury she first met Weinstein at the Toronto Film Festival in 1991, when the aspiring actress was 24 years old. She said friends introduced her to the producer, recalling that “we got along very well. He as very intelligent.”

Harvey invited her to a patio bar, where they had “a few glasses of wine … he was affable, we were bantering about art and film. We were having a nice time.” After an hour or so,

The Halloween talk-show tradition continued on Monday as the broadcast network morning and daytime hosts donned pop-culture-inspired ensembles.

The hosts of NBC’s Today, the syndicated Live With Kelly and Ryan and ABC’s The View all dressed up for the holiday, with movie and TV show characters and popular musicians among the inspirations.

Still, not every show that traditionally participates in the festivities went all out this year. ABC’s Good Morning America, which skipped dressing up for the holiday in 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic continued ahead of a high-stakes presidential election, saw its hosts once again mostly pass on dressing up. The show, which featured live interviews with Friends star Matthew Perry and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler and actress Danai Gurira, instead celebrated the holiday by showing off some last-minute costume ideas and with a candy cooking contest
